Perhaps that would be a common case, but if I may take a guess, the "chosen to fight alongside their Khalai brethren" sentence could probably include the idea that Khalai has given them access to the materials used for the other templar's equipment or that this Dark Templar group is so close to them that they let the engineers, specialists and manufacturers of the Khalai to produce their armor (with some slight variations to the standard procedures and parts so it can better accommodate to the distinct energies of these women).
Besides, noticing the newest Dark Templar's lore [link] it could be said that this is another expression of the myriad of paths the Dark Templar can take β using a more conservative approach (at least in what equipments and materials is to be said) to their ancestorsβ previous lives on Aiur.
I must said that it is really good model. You have astonished me with its quality, SgtHK.
Hoping for that mod already, I desire you a swift destiny for it.
Β‘Un saludo y buena suerta, Γ‘lla donde andes!

Addendum: Don't the dark templar separate themselves from the Khala by cutting their "dreadlocks"?

Only those Protoss who were exiled or were born shortly after the exile from Aiur cut off their nerve cords. But the ones who were born later on, such as the young and vigilant Vanguards, still have their cords intact. Notice the short length of the cords, meaning that they're still young Protoss ^^.

Right. Still, where is that from? Fanon? I would've sworn the cutting of the cords wasn't a way of marking those exiled, it was their own way of self-imposed exile from the Khala and embracing the Void.

Well, canon did say that the cutting of the cords was the way the exiled Protoss showed their refusal of the Khala. But Blizzard never mentioned that it has become a ritual that was passed onto newer generations.

Yeah but... hang on, disclaimer:
I believe we're engaging in not even fanon vs. canon but fanon vs. fanon. I'm in no way bashing your explanation, screaming YOUR DOING IT WRONG!!1!11! etc. Just pointing out how I think that works.
Namely, to me, the cutting of the cords isn't just a symbolic ritual, it's the actual act that separates them from the Khala. Though I've nothing to back it up.
Eh. I got better things to do. Say, gawp at a protoss lass.
