So, like I said in my most recent post (Is it really goodbye? ), I will create a new "Glass Cube" intro and outro for my channel. In this Blender scene, there are a total of 730 cubes, and each one is going to move up and down like in the original animation by Samsung (youtu.be/WyIn_j4qNLc ), but the dominant cube will also rotate.After taking this screenshot, I was having trouble moving the camera around the way it did in the original animation. Obviously, the "Follow Path" object constraint doesn't do any good; if you're animating an object along a NURBS or Bezier curve, the object you're trying to animate along the path will continue moving from where the path started no matter how long the curve is or how many keyframes you expect it to move for.
And so what I ended up doing was inserting keyframes for the Location and Rotation of the camera then using the Graph Editor to edit each curve for the X Y and Z axes, because again, I wanted it to move in a curved line, not a straight. After only-God-knows-how-many attempts, I finally got it right:
Now for the materials, all cubes have the same texture nodes. Their subsurface IOR is 1.5, since they are supposed to be made of glass, and their alpha is .85. You will need to refer to this website for IOR reference: pixelandpoly.com/ior.html .
For the cube crowd, each cube is unwrapped with the "Project from View" setting in the UV Unwrap menu. All 729 unwrapped UVs were then reduced in size so that they would cover an entire pixel of color on the Diffuse map. I looked up a rainbow gradient, copied and pasted it into Photoshop CC, then used the Mosaic filter, that way each unwrapped UV is placed accordingly. And as you can see in the screenshot above, the Hue slider is also keyframed, which means the 729 cubes will be changing color.
And that's not all! For my new SgtPepperArc360 ident, I will also be including the "TECHNOLOGY, MUSIC, etc." as well as some clips I recorded. You'll be amazed how it's going to turn out!
I might also do a "Glass Cube" intro for my fanbase. 🤔
The whole thing will be rendered using Blender's Cycles render engine. And believe it or not, the viewport renders the scene blazingly fast, like, in one second!* How amazing is that?
* = If Max samples is set to 1024, that is.
