One thing to note about this picture - the Cleric and War Cleric classes are female-only. Their male-only equivalents are Priest and War Monk.
Additionally, there have been two additional DLC classes: Dread Fighter (Male-only; Swords, Axes, and Tomes) and Bride (Female-only; Lances, Bows, and Staves). Like Dancer, Taguel, Manakete, and Villager, they're both a standlone class and cannot promote to another class (though they can reclass).

This is a really useful picture. I've been using it constantly since I've started my FE:Awakening play through.Β

war monk was introduced when they added the mag-based axe (bolt axe) and lance (shockstick), I believe. And I know this is an old post, but unanswered questions bother me. xD

oh well I guess it is for the best that they are no longer an existing class

there is only one question that I have
can you use a Second Seal on character that you already have used one on?
If so, then is it possible to return that character to their original class?
(main cases in question for Dancers, Starloads? (those characters you can recruit from the DLC maps), Taguels, and Manaketes)

Yes, you can use a Second Seal on a character, there are no limits ^^

This incredibly useful! (although I do have to ask: is there any particular reason the Bride and Dread Fighter classes are excluded?)

You need a second seal to upgrade villagers. They become either fighters or mercenarys. Just wanted to clear this up. Also, dancers can become myrmidions or pegasus knights.

It's not upgrades, it's reclassing, and every character can do that, exept Lords.

A villager will never upgrade? Is this actually true? If so, that's quite disappointing. I was thinking Donny was going to be similar to Amelia in the Sacred stones, that "villager" was one of those lesser classes that had a huge potential in terms of possible upgrades.

Actually this is false. You need a second seal to upgrade. They become either fighters or mercenarys. Just wanted to clear this up. Also, dancers can become myrmidions or pegasus knights.

No, the villager can't upgrade in this version, I dislike it too !
I really enjoyed the pre-classes from the Sacred Stones.

Yeah, the trainees were great. It's too bad the developers didn't want to return to that concept, I think a lot of people liked it.
Also, I quite liked how Path of radiance and radiant dawn had three tiers to their classes, instead of just two, and even though the class progression was sort of linear, you got to pick what weapons and such your new units could use. In some ways I liked that better than the branching class trees.
Also, why'd they cut out light magic? I don't like that at all.
Still, Awakening is pretty awesome so far (only got the game a few days ago) and the class system looks like it has some fun additions/changes. The addition of second seals for reclassing also adds a really cool layer of complexity.

Yeah, the Path of Radiance and Radiant Down class progression was great too, but I like the good old branching class tree.
And I don't know why they removed light magic, it wasn't useless.
Awakening is amazing, but I dislike the reclassing system, because it lost the personality of the caracters...

Sage does not get light magic, light magic does not exist in fire emblem awakening. Dark Knight also do not get dark magic.

actually in Awakening they made all the Book based magic (Anima, Dark, & Light) into the same weapon category simply labeled Tomes
so now any character with that little book symbol on their equip-able tools/weapons section of their description page can equip all types of attack magic
it is possible that Dark Mages, Dark Knights, and Sorcerers are much more efficient at wielding Dark Tomes
not to say that you should only give them Dark Tomes, just keep that in mind next time you have one of them fight a difficult enemy for them

Okay thanks, I'm going to fix it.
Are they the only mistakes you can see ?

Only 1: The Dark Mage can use anima magic. Other than that it's good.
