I had used 1984 as Nick's year of birth too, but then I switched to 1983 since the movie is likely set in 2015 rather than 2016.

Why would they made Nick that old in the first place, and the numbers Judy was saying were estimates to make a point. It would have been believable is she said 20 years or 19 or 18 instead of two decades. When people say decades they don't normally mean a number of years you can devide by 10.

Think about it this way:
Is there a reason to NOT believe it?
Would him being around 30 undermine what he says or does, or make those impossible to achieve?
Would it make Nick's and Judy's relationship impossible?
