Description I was trying to do schoolwork. I did this instead. I saw some people do it and it seemed fun so I gave it a try. While drawing the little pictures I realized I have a little shortage of characters (that are not spoilers) so instead of just the main team I did Brendan and Steven as well.
With the recent updates not being very happy I'm kinda stuck drawing the characters very unhappy. Oops.

There were a few things I wanted to mention but now I only remember one and that is: Thorn has absolutely zero interest in anything that has to do with romance or relationships etc. I only excluded him in the sexuality spectrum but I realized I could've done so for the other spectrums in the same category.
Also, I find it hilarious how the Pokemon in the education spectrum look like they've been put in the shame-corner for being terrible at school.

Hahaha, many people seem to have this difficulty. Thanks man!

This is so cool! It's interesting how Nessa and Fenrir have somewhat similar personalities (which probably contributed to how much they clashed/grated on each other, and could bring out the worst in each other). And how Nessa is definitely not your usual "noble paragon of all that is good" type protagonist; she's got a lot of flaws. And Gis being an ungainly sweetheart...gah, I love his character so much.

Thanks! I'm glad to hear people like this. It was fun to do and actually made me realize things as well, the similarities between Nessa and Fenrir being one thing. And I agree, that is probably why they clashed so much.
I quite like to have flawed an unconventional characters as protags, but too much of everything is too much. Sometimes you see the unconventionality taken so far that a character that is feared to be a mary sue becomes a villain sue. I like to try to stay balanced and make the characters feel real, have real thoughts and traits of their own and Β not just what I wish them to be. This doesn't always work but I try.

Also, sorry that this comment was so late - I just caught up with the nuzlocke yesterday (but I think it's a testament to the quality of your comic that readers like me can come back after months of not reading it and feel just as strongly for the characters as I did before!)

I think you've done a great job with Nessa. She does feel very real, and even though she's flawed you can't help but root for her and empathize with the hardships she faces, even if she doesn't always react to those hardships in the healthiest way (because I think we've all been in a similar position before - none of us are perfect and sometimes we really mess up, but we keep trying the best we know how).

OKay so

TWO things made me laugh while looking at this.

First: "Handedness." In which Thorn and Gis are smack in the middle because, yes, they have hands. And that's about all you can say towards their ability xD

AND THEN--this one got me the most: "Graceful?" Gis. "Flippered feet." And all you see is him looking down.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

ShadeofShinon In reply to Vertigo-Gal [2014-12-20 22:50:54 +0000 UTC]

Haha, you got the handedness part right. They both can use their hands equally when it comes to beating opopnents, that was my thought. that, and the fact that they have hands in the first place.

And the graceful bit was half intentional. Like, in that and the education part (and maybe somewhere else, too) Gis is placed in the other end and looks really ashamed looking down like that.

In all honesty (and I might be a bit late to the party on this one) I find it quite funny that the one that the only member that happens to be canine is the least loyal where as the other end of the spectrum is doggedly loyalΒ =w=

Very neat I've never heard of this Meme before and I did enjoy looking through it. Is it just me or do Nessa and Fenrir share a lot of similarities? I could be wrong XD

That's good to hear. :>
They share quite a lot, actually. Doing this meme made me realize it. The similarities are probably why they clashed like that.

He's more clever (not really as clever as his position suggests, I had some trouble fitting these heads without overlapping) but scholarly he's pretty much the same. There's just one reason why he's slightly apart from the rest.

shoulda included Archie! xD (Nessa wouldn't be the most insane then probably)

and Thorn really doesn't seem that nasty...and Fenrir cuddled up to Nessa at least once!... lol

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShadeofShinon In reply to Cassadar [2014-11-26 07:00:31 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, Archie would've been fun. As far as Nessa's insanity is concerned it has more to do with her current state of mind than a permanent state. And Thorn's not really nasty, He's more or less in the middle in both though it was difficult to make him fit. He can be brutally honest which someone could interpret as more nasty than kind.

Cassadar In reply to ShadeofShinon [2014-11-26 12:26:53 +0000 UTC]

ah oki... her current state is... slightly off yeah...

and eh... while honesty often isn't kind i usually tend to think that honesty is nice. ^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

ShadeofShinon In reply to Cassadar [2014-11-26 12:34:08 +0000 UTC]

Honesty is a good thing in my opinion but in Thorn's case it's more like he says things as they are and doesn't really consider how the recipient will take it. That kinda goes hand in hand with his below-mediocre perception (emotional, of others) skills.

I think our starters might be total opposites. Briggs is calm and highly curious, but very antisocial. He is strict, precise, and cold. He reflects Jack's inability to maintain an outward web of social norm with others, so his curiosity gets the better of him and occupies his loneliness. Gis would probably be a great friend to bring Briggs out of a slump.

ShadeofShinon In reply to Yian-garuga-anonyme [2014-11-24 16:36:07 +0000 UTC]

I think I understood. They're both stubborn and sort of assholish, relatively dense and whatnot so when they clash they clash hard. The only reason it didn't happen until now is that Fenrir trusted and respected Nessa. Well, not anymore.
