Description
FOR SALEThis is my entry for 's History contest. The subject itself was just way too interesting to let pass through my fingers. I could've come up with dozens and dozens of pictures and ideas and I did. But I chose this one as my entry.
First I had to decide which PokΓ©mon I should draw. Too difficult. Eventually I chose Lugia because I love that PokΓ©mon but I haven't done any proper fanart of it yet. I'm ashamed. I should draw more art of that glorious beast.
At first I thought about doing a large collage about Lugia and this very drawing was supposed to be a small part of it. However, I ran out of time and fell in love with this idea and started to draw it in a bigger scale. (I might do those other parts some day, too.)
This is actually a drawing of a part of a bigger painting that is located in an ancient shrine devoted to Lugia. The shrine's walls are fully covered with Unown markings, mostly containing propechies and legends about Lugia and also a lot of paintings. Everything is painted on wood and even though centuries passed and the shrine has grown older the colours have faded only a little. The location of the shrine has been long forgotten which might be why no one has been able to demolish the shrine and what lies inside of it. Yet many stories of this mighty shrine have passed from generation to generation and some still try to seek for it. And only one pure hearted has managed to find and enter the shrine after many centuries.

Yup, that's about it. Grrr, I'm going to kill my scanner for not a) scanning straight even though the painting is straight b) for not being an A3 scanner and c) for eating the colours.
Anyway, I like this painting very much and I even placed it on my room's wall. I think this painting was very simple to do though it's unusual, nearly A3 size was a bit of a problem. Even so, this is one of my favourites. :>
P.S. I will never EVER again draw any Unowns! >.< They're such pain in the ass. I had most difficulties with the circles because I suck at drawing perfect circles free hand.
Well, I hope you enjoy it!

This is a fantastic piece of artwork. I am fascinated by it. It really does the legend of the Pokemon justice. I would love to know how you got the stained wood affect to the painting. Is it all just watercolor. Also what gave you the idea. I am just in awe.

Thank you very much!
I did the wood effect with inking pens. I simply drew a lot of random lines here and there and after I had inked the whole picture I painted it with watercolours.
This picture was an entry for a contest that was about PokΓ©mon history. Idecided to go with Lugia and I concentrated on those few lines from Lugia's propechy. Then I decided to give the picture an ancient look and, well, I guess that's it.

It's a part of the propechy from the second PokΓ©mon movie. I guess it means the as the guardian of the sea Lugia will arise to stop any kind of war or fightind that will affet greatly on the balance of the world and be very destructive.

Wow, amazing! I love the shades of blue you used and the way you've done the water in fantastic!
Also the way you've 'stained' the background and detailed it to look like wood is beautiful *.*

!!!!It looks like something that would appear in-game somewhere, kinda! Two thumbs aren't enough...I need more!
:icondragonwantplz:Ah, I have memories of the second Pokemon Movie already. That was a good one. *sigh...
I just love its pose! (Or would it be "his pose?" I always think of Lugia as a he. Hmm, that's from the movie, I guess)
...and, I feel you for circles. Especially for Unowns. I pretty much only like Unown when they're on walls. Let's just say I'd applaud anyone who effectively uses Unown in battle.
So, did this entry win yet? Or you don't know yet?

Thank you so very much!
An Unown is impossible to use effectively in a battle since it only knows Hidden Power and it's stats are crap, so to speak. :/ But I agree. They look pretty neat on walls.
I placed third in the contest. I'm pretty satisfied with that.

I've entered loads of contests, and not just art ones, either. Literary...polls...even a few of those "just enter to win" contests. But I've never won before.
I mean, yay! Third place!

I've entered lots of contests, too, but lately I haven't been too victorious. :/ Seems that I must try harder or then not try too hard and just give it a go. Both work.

Well, as long as you try, that's all that matters.

I kind of tried to make it look like that - even if it was "originally painted" on wood. I'm glad to hear I succeeded.

This is so wonderful, this painting really captures the anceint look. I love the unown messege too. "The god of the sea will appear to stop the destruction." (I'm way too good at reading unown....)

Yup, that's what it says. It's part of the propechy about Lugia that can be read here: [link]
I've always liked that propechy which is why I kind of wanted to include it in this piece. ^^
