Description
"They didn't know. They just drove past the sign without even noticing it. That's how it all started... or should I say ended?"This is one of my best works so far. I've put about a full days work into it and I believe it came out pretty well.
All source material was shot by me expect the factory which is from Moebius @ sxc.hu: [link]
If there is any single picture that can be called "the original picture", then it's this one: [link]
I leave that as a description of what I've done with this manip

brilliant work
i love the light
and how the power lines come from the top
it rele takes the eyes to the back of the photo.
watching them go to the back of the photo is how the people in that car are gonna be... forgotten

Wow, I didn't see the catagory at first and assumed it was a photo... the only thing that I questioned (which is why I went back and checked the catagory) is the sign, I was trying to figure out if you just changed the symbol on it or if the whole sign was fake... anyways, very realistic, I'm impressed with how much you've changed the original image... and how realistic that road looks, amazing work...

I changed the symbol and the color of border in the sign. But the sign exists for real so to say, I shot it myself.

Oh, I see... but you shot it seperately and inserted it in here, nice work... I was just saying that if anything it is the sign that gives it away that this is not a photo (because of the symbol, not 'cause it doesn't look convincing) otherwise I wouldn't have even checked the catagory...

Heh, true. You don't often find biohazard signs like that

Hmm, it might have been a bit better if there were actually nuclear waste towers in the background or something.

I'm really impressed at how you managed to blend a whole road in there! I seriously thought it was part of the photograph. Amazing job.

Fortunately, the road was from the same field that's in the original picture so the textures matched. But it would have been possible even if it was from a totally different place.

Wow, this is gorgeous.
I notice a couple comments about the beauty of the rest of the picture compared to the subject. That it's apparently unrealistic.
I don't see it that way. In fact, I think it's perfect. After all, horrifying things can be found in the most beatiful of places. Sometimes it's right under your nose, such as the poor fellows in the car here.
Fantastic work.

I have to agree. It would be kind of weird if all dangerous things were ugly and all good things were beautiful. Thanks!

This is an amazing photo. I agree that the car looks a little weird, but I'm sure you could fix that. I also think the sign looks a little weird, but besides that, it's amazing. Nice work.

I probably could, but I don't like fixing things afterwards like that. I'd rather take the knowledge to my next work instead Thank you!

Absolutely beautiful. It has a sense of desolation and just decrepidness to it that makes for good contrast with the beauty of the picture itself.

Sure, its a great fotographic manipulation.
But if it is so dangerous there as you suggest, why is the sky so beautyfull, with all those beautyfull stars and the phantasmagorical blue color. Doesn't really come up a scary feeling - only by watchting at the lower part of the picture, wich is certainly pretty scary.
So is there an explanation for the very effect of the sky? Or did you just think about the quality of the picture and not about the meaning of what you did?
I'm curious about that - please answer me!

shadewind In reply to AraiThunder [2006-08-28 21:36:22 +0000 UTC]
When I make pictures, I my biggest priority is to make the picture pleasing to the eye. If it's not, then I will work until it is. Most often, it's not until late that I come up with a meaning, if any at all. People as so obsessed with meanings and thoughts behind pictures and music. I try to make art for art's sake. But then again, some pictures give me a certain feeling as I go along. This one did and I pictured something like Stephen King's The Stand in my head. Just because everybody dies it doesn't mean the sun stops shining.
