a reference is when you something for a character, for ex. you draw that character howing all the correct markings and colors needed for it all its items that wears or has, a ref could also be for the sam character but different refs for any other forms it has, like a different form could have different marking n look ifferent it could have a diff. form becaz of a number of reasons mood for ex.
