hehe I know, they do look funny! But they are not foxes, they aren't wolves either really they are just called that. They are a weird acient form of canine, their closest living relatives are the equally strange bush dogs

Nice that you got such a good shot of it. From my experience, they're usually very shy creatures.
When guiding people around at the Nordens Ark wildife reserve you're often reduced to describing what maned wolves look like, so people know what to keep a lookout for, ie a "red fox on stilts".

I know, I was amazed to see them so active and close to the guest veiwing platform, the ones at this zoo are normally shy too.

nice beast, never seen one before my dog does that though, never knew what he was about, but ones before him did not do it at least not so much. this one seems to have much more in common with wolves than the ones we previously had with us, even the howling at the sirens, bells and probably moon

hehe sounds like a cool dog to have around. My family's dog does this (much to my parent's annoyance) whenever she finds something she likes the smell of (which seems to include sheep poo).

maned wolves are great creatures, although they are rare in the wild I think and not usual additions to zoos.

ah, yes, the dog we had before this one liked to rub into perfumed stuff which is pretty unusual (more often they prefer poo). but this one seems to prefer to leave his own smell around
