thanks! I spent a shamefully long time trying to get a good puffin flight shot... this is the only good one out of (and I am not kidding) about 2 memory cards worth of flying puffin shots >.< persistance and luck won out for me eventually!

they seem so slow when you're just looking at them, but when it comes to panning with one to get a shot... they are very fast!

thank you ^-^ it took so long to get one that was actually in focus... they fly so fast when they are coming back in from sea to avaoid the theiving seagulls!

hehe yeah, my first outing with my first DSLR was at the seaside with some left over fish and chips, throwing them for the seagulls got sea spray all over the lens filter though >.<

The great thing about puffin colonies is there are always loads of other birds there too, plenty of diversity!

I'm hoping to spend a lot of time on the isle of may this summer, I live only an hour from it ^-^ I've only been there in the winter though to study the seals, all my puffins/auks so far were taken on the farne isles.
