I really love this piece a lot.
First- every time you focus on a scene, another one is there at the same time- kind of reminds me how my mind works going in all different directions yet the same one at once. It really invokes curiousity and thought.
Second- The white space contrasts this so well. It just... works. Usually white space bothers me but this makes it balance out nicely.
and Third- All the animals mixed in is awesome. I find different ones each time I look at it, and see different scenes. Overall... this is just incredible. KUDOS.

Very nice, every time i look at it i find something else to look at. The fact the most of the page is blank and all attention is immediately drawn to the center is amazing. I found the title to be on everything, especially on the white space. Usually white space is bad, it means you didn't have enough to say or write or express. However I really like the white space in this one because there is so much to look at in that little corner and even within the drawings and animals you cna still find little worlds or scenes. The contrast between the white space and the rest is simply amazing. Very nice job.

Thank you very much! That's one the things I keep worrying about. I try not to make white spaces too conspicuous and dominant, so I'm glad you didn't find it that way!

I think this is perfect I'm not sure having a favourite scene fits well with the drawing, which imo works properly as a whole. I like the mood though, and the style itself kinda reminds me of the hapland games XD

Q1:
I think this piece makes me sad, but happy for the people in the world who are naive and uninformed of the sad things that go on. It makes me ask the question: When I have children will I tell them about all the sad things in the world or will I let them find out for themselves? The whole thing seems like a scene to me because all the details form a whole. I like all of the details but the different places where you have hangings stood out to me.
Q2:
I see a rabbit, a snake, a dragon, a crab, a spider (i think), a whale, a few hands, and a lot of birds.... but I am a little unsure of how they all apply conceptually except for the dragon because it is an imaginary thing children think about.
Q3:
I think it is shown by the two lovers standing under the moon. They are on a hill and are separated from the madness below them. I think it is very nice how the person hanging from the moon is just out of sight and it seems like the couple's innocent perception of the world could be shattered at any moment.
very nice job! I really like this!

First of all, thank you very much for such an in-depth comment.
So, you find the piece brings out mainly the negative in the world. Do you think the loving couple contrasts this feature?
About the animals - well, I'm a huge animal lover. I work securing trips in Israel and those Israeli fucktards keep leaving dirt behind them, and that sort of things can kill animals. I'm always the one who voluntarily walks behind them and collects their trash. Perhaps, subconsciously, I drew the animals to portray the good against the bad.
And about the couple - you're spot on! That's exactly what I intended!
Thank you once again for the great comment and compliments, truly appreciated!

Favourite scences: Lifted by the moon, and the graduation hat XD
Mood? Well, jusdgind from the couple and the overall confusingness, I think it is that love is very confusing XD haha. Oh, and that it hurts you (gravestones) and other people (dude hanging from the moon).
I found thirteen animals. o-o

I guess I might have been a bit baffled at the concept of love when I drew it, seems quite plausible indeed.

Favorite scene: the dude being lifted by the moon.
Mood: captivated by the intricacies.
How many animals... still counting
Title: There's an obvious separation between the "land" and the "sky" for one, but also there's irony because the creatures and scenes aren't separate from each other at all.

How cool! There is so much more happening in this piece then meets the eye at first glance. However as for the title, I'm left without a clue, to me the image seems to be a hodgepodge of many different concepts all stuck together rather then separated.
The mood of the piece seems to be a combination of the simplicity and "cute" calmness that you might find like in the webcomic xkcd, together with a bit of morbidity as illustrated by the crosses and monsters.
However the overall reigning mood is probably the couple under the moon, since they stand atop of everything else and sort of "crown" this piece.

Thank you very much for the comment! You're kind of spot on with the couple. This piece was drawn right after my ex and I broke up so this was the main inspiration for the piece.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that, but the title to the piece does make more sense now.
I suppose that's the job of us artists, to take our low-points and turn them into something new and creative.

Yes.
Though sadly it's far too easy to see tons of "pretty" artwork out there that doesn't really say anything.

Yes, it is sad, but it's also the nature of such a widely popular and commercial site as deviantART - the great artists get the recognition they deserve but are also made unique because there's too much generic, recycled stuff hanging aroudn. That's both a good and bad thing.

wow i love this drawing : )
i also think it was the best to leave space so you dont need too much concentration to discover more or less every detail.
of course i love the moon scene and i also like the one with the "graduation hat".
i guess this picture has 20 or more animals in it and if you count he little fishes even more.
The picture has a sad emotion to me or i could imagine this as a nightmare, because every bottom you stand on live and is an animal ..

Shadow-Trooper In reply to Cantuccini [2009-10-18 20:03:06 +0000 UTC]
Thank you very much (:
About space - I think it's always clever in a piece with so many details to leave some open space, and that's something I learned when I drew Run to the Light. I think it would have turned into a senseless mess had I not left two blank spots over there.
That's a cool observation with the nightmare. I never thought of it!
Thank you for your comment (:

I like the snake on the far right that morphs into a road kind of thing
I can only find 10 animals am I right? :wondering:
and the last one I don't know. It looks abstract to me, something that's on your mind maybe?

First, thanks for commenting!
I'm really glad you like the snake, it was the last thing I drew here and had a lot of fun with it, definitely left me all smiling and finished.
About ten animals - you're way off, lol. There's about twice this much (:
The mood, well, it could be abstract since nothing is really connected to the stuff around it. It's like that always. I can't keep concentrated on something specific for a long time. But somehow everything does fit together, and yes, it's always what is in my effed up head (:
