Description
Gold kicked the PC. "Damn thing, crapping out at a time like this!" he shouted, furious at the machine. He had just deposited a Rattata he had in his party and was switching boxes when the machine locked up. It happened every now and then, and didn't usually affect trainers. However, it was just saving his box settings. The words 'SAVING... DON'T TURN OFF THE POWE' were etched on the screen, mocking him. To make matters worse, all of his Pokéballs were in the machine so he could check their data.After a few more kicks, the young trainer resigned himself to restarting the system. Freezes were such a rare occurrence these days. When the machine rebooted, he was brought back to the box he had open prior. He sighed and switched boxes again, this time with success, and then withdrew all five of his Pokémo-
Wait. Five? He should only have four! He put them all back in the PC to check them. Rattata was both on the PC and in his party. On a whim, he withdrew the rodent from the box, and let both Rattata out.
They were perfectly identical in every way, both holding Berries. They even moved in the same way for a little bit. Perfect copies. Well, almost perfect. There was something wrong with the eyes of the one that was in his party. Gold's jaw was wide open in disbelief.
"What the... But how... Huh!?" he stammered, dumbfounded. Somehow, the machine duplicated his Rattata. Standing there for several minutes, he finally pulled himself together, giggling with glee. He could easily sweep trainers now! Money problems? Just clone a Pokémon holding a nugget! Want a team of powerful Pokémon? Just train one and clone it before a big battle! The possibilities were endless!
~~~~~
Several hours of experimenting later, Gold had gotten into a rhythm, cloning the Pokémon without fail. However, the process was taking too long. He already had cloned his partner, his strongest Pokémon, Croconaw, once. Curious, he tried cloning both at the same time. Success. All four. Success again. Grinning, he gave five of them nuggets - always requiring at least one Pokémon in his party - and cloned them, including the original. He then rebooted the PC.
Something was wrong. Whenever he went to the box, it showed a garbled mess and locked up. He was worried for his friend, but decided to just leave it be for a while so it could sort itself out. He went and captured some Sentret to clone for Nuggets, letting them go to the PC. He then went back, and found the PC was accessible again. The screen was still garbled though, and one Croconaw - the original - had a messed up name.
He swapped for it and fingered the ball. Shaking, he let out the Pokémon. His back was facing the young, scared trainer. "T-Torrent? A-a-are you... Are you ok?" Gold stammered out.
The Croconaw turned around, and Gold screamed.
~~~~~
The police arrived a few hours later, reporting to calls of screams - both Pokémon and Human - coming from the small house. They entered and found a bloody mess all over the place. "What the fuck happened here?" asked one officer, looking for any survivors. He stopped when he saw movement. In the corner was what looked like an injured Croconaw. He approached it. "Heya buddy. Don't worry, I won't hurt you..." he calmly told the water type. Torrent snapped his head up, and the officer nearly vomited.
The Croconaw had half its head missing, just... Cut off, with what looked like pieces of infected flesh that resembled tv static hanging. However, Torrent was nothing if not resourceful, for he had started to replace the missing part. Grinning at the new victim through the stitched on upper left face of Gold, he lunged forward.

:U...Damn. From my cloned pokemon, (and I'll clone several at a time) I've never had any completely corrupted pokemon because my Gold and Silver versions are both from the first wave of US releases that didn't have as many of the original bugs worked out. Though one time the Rare Candy that I gave my Cyndaquil turned into a fully usable GS Ball after I cloned it.

Well, I just finished my next short Pokemon horror story, which is based on something COMPLETELY different than what I had planned
I just need to get somebody to read over the rough draft to catch any awkward wording or bad grammar that I may have missed. I have a friend who can do this, so unless one of you wants to volunteer, you'll need to wait a bit

And just compared the lengths. Woo boy, Incomplete Save is 645 words long. Cyan is 1,334 words long - a little over twice as long as Incomplete Save (twice the length of Incomplete Save is 1,290 words long)

Saweeeeeet.
I remember the first time I learned about cloning. I was in 5th grade when two of my friends said something about it. I was all like "Say whaa?"
So I had to try it out myself.
Too bad I forgot how to clone (though I don't know if I want to after reading this)

Actually, you have to screw up cloning in a fashion like this to do the Celebi egg glitch
Yes, you can get yourself a Celebi egg
Celebi are born from corrupted Sneasel or Smeargle

xxxDorkusMaximusxxx In reply to Shadowater [2011-01-16 00:25:11 +0000 UTC]
you mean like a hacked Sneasel or Smeargle?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Shadowater In reply to xxxDorkusMaximusxxx [2011-01-16 02:19:15 +0000 UTC]
Nope. If you use the cloning trick to corrupt a Sneasel or Smeargle with Beat Up as their... Third Move, if I recall, and the corruption (requires such insane timing that even an emulator slowing down the game still leaves it difficult to do (apparently, Stadium 2, for some reason, makes the spot where you need to turn off the game longer)) works right, then you can breed the abomination and get a Celebi in an egg (The move number for beat up matches Celebi's number)
So yeah, the only way to get Celebi in Gold/Silver without using a gameshark (If I recall, Crystal did something to screw with the timing. You can still clone in it, though, so maybe I remember wrong) is to breed it from something akin to Missingno.

What can I say? Obviously Celebi went back in time and beat up the employees of Nintendo of America while they were children, ingraining in them such a deep seated hatred of Celebi that going through a pain in the ass process to get one is one of the few ways that exist

In Ruby and Sapphire, some NPC's - the Aroma Lady east of Mauville in particular - have a range great enough to see you though, say, ledges
So they will walk up the edge (not hop down it, walk up onto it) and stand there, challenging you to a battle

Actually, if you do it just right, you can corrupt a Pokemon in such a way that it will lay a Celebi egg
Not to mention that it is very difficult to corrupt a Pokemon... Unless you get greedy and clone more than one at a time
