Great shot. In my career I've never had to cover sports to any extent. But I recently got a gig shooting MMA fights. And I'm beginning to notice it takes a certain kind of style to do this kind of work.

aw, thanks! yeah, I... haven't really had an opportunity to build my career yet, but I have been to various events, and MMA has so far been one of the toughest to shoot for.. I would have gotten infinitely more shots like this, if I was there specifically to shoot the fights and ONLY the fights, because the guy who hired me, definitely had me spread too thin, I was taking photos of the guests, of the fighters, of the preparation, of the fight itself, the ring girls, etc, etc etc. and during this match, there was absolutely 0 time in between to prepare and switch lenses and such, the pressure kind of concerned me, because I'm much more focused on ACTION shots, compared to some of the less entertaining types of photography.
I wonder, though, can you please go into further detail on the "kind of style" that is required for one to do this type of work? I'm curious

This is an amazing photograph. Even though it's a moment in time, you managed to catch their emotions, the passion, and the strength behind them. This is an excellent photo and I aspire to someday manage to catch a shot with just as much emotion and expression and quality as you did with this one. Very, very nice job.

actually, no. It's mixed martial arts, so, kind of like UFC, in a similar style, but not done by the same group, this is on a much smaller scale (as far as I know, this was my first cagefight, so... I'm not exactly informed) though I've got several good photos from that night. I really need to talk to the guy who hired me, that way I can see if he's really alright with my posting these in the first place.. anyways, here's a sneak peek of one of my other images, in case something goes wrong along the way
