If you don't live in ct (just assumed cause thats where I saw you) just google 'ct vanity plates' (with your states abreviation in place of ct).
In RI it's 60$ a year but you have to buy them for minimum 2 years. Then 50$ for forms and registration transfers and stuff. So it's not so bad. But dmvct.org says theres a 90$ fee, but it dosn't say for how long.
