Description Jedi Master Naali Udra sat on her couch silently staring down at the end table in front of her. The com link that rested there had finally ceased ringing. She knew it had been Verdin again. He had been trying to reach her all morning but she refused to take his calls. On this day of all days, she wanted to be completely alone. She sighed, trying to fight back the tears that she could knew would come soon. With a shaking hand, she reached out and picked up a holorecorder that lay on the end table and after a few moments, she finally turned it on.

A soft blue light ebbed from it, turning into a scene from within the jedi temple. Her friend and fellow Jedi Master, Nate Raine was shushing her with obvious amusement as she held the holorecorder. In his hands, he held a wrapped birthday present that they were taking to their friend Verdin Darkwalker. Nate flashed her a michevious grin, “You do realize he’s going to kill us for this?” He said with a laugh as they approached Verdin’s room. Naali could hear herself giggle at his words. “He can try.” She’d replied. They both knocked on Verdin’s door and she had watched with amusement as Nate composed himself into a reflection of seriousness. When he’d answered, they both yelled happy birthday and gave him a hug then Nate handed him the wrapped box. “This is from us.” Verdin looked at the present. “You guys didn’t have to get me anything!” He said with a smile. Nate and Naali were trying to stifle their giggles. “Well go on and open it!” Naali finally said with a laugh after watching Verdin shake the box and try to guess what it was. As Verdin tore the paper from the box, she saw Nate lift a hand to cover his mouth, Naali could see he was having trouble holding back his laughter. She was having hard time keeping the holorecorder steady as she nearly shook from holding in her own amusement. As Verdin ripped open the box and pulled forth the clothing within, he frowned. He was holding up a hot pink set of jedi robes that were edged with pastel pink lace and sequins. “I swear I’m going to kill you both!” Verdin had yelled as the holorecorder bounced around at Naali’s laughter and his hand reached out to cover the lens. Just before the holorecorder shut off, Naali could hear the sound of herself and Nate laughing in unison.

Tears were sliding down her cheeks as the holorecorder blinked off. Slowly she brought her knees up to her chest, wrapped her arms around them and cried, her delicate form shaking from the force of her sobs as she felt once more, the overwhelming void that had been left within her the day Nate had died.

All I want to know is why Verdin was trying to reach Naali?

I assumed that he'd noticed how she always kept to herself on the anniversary of Nate's death and this year was trying to end that by contacting her, seeing if she was doing alright, etc.
