Nathaniel Raine turned the ornate skeleton key in the lock of the trap door on the ground of the desert planet where his wife kept all of her precious artifacts. He watched for a moment silently as the wind quickly pushed the sand over the hidden door once more. He pulled the cloak tighter as he turned to walk back to his ship, the wind whipping around him. In one hand he clutched his old lightsaber, the weapon he'd sworn to his wife that he'd never pick up again.

"Times change..." He whispered softly as he walked up the ramp and onto his ship. The ramp slowly raised behind him and he heard the soft click of the door as it latched shut. He shook off the worn cloak and tossed it aside as he moved towards the cockpit. A soft coo greeted him as he sat down in the pilot's chair. His emerald eyes met the bright blue eyes of his 1 year old son who sat in the child's seat in the chair next to him. Nate looked slowly away as he started up the engine. His son's eyes reminded him too much of his deceased wife's. That thought made him glance at the blood stains that still remained upon the sleeves of his favorite leather flight jacket as he grabbed hold of the control stick. She'd died in his arms and he'd lain her to rest only a few days before on the forest moon of Endor. He still had the image of her in his mind, resting peaceful, covered in flowers as he set the wooden pyre aflame. She had died too young...and would never have the chance to see her son grow.

"Forgive me..." He spoke softly as he quickly set a course for Corusant and the Jedi Academy. he had made a vow and he would stick to it even though he knew in his heart that it would prove to be the hardest decision of his life. He planned to leave his son at the Jedi Academy - there, he knew his son would be safe. Then he would find those who had killed his wife and make them pay for what they had done. He clipped his lightsaber to his belt. He'd given up his career as a Jedi for the sake of love and now for that same reason, he would be calling upon the force once more - only this time much more darkly...
