Or, you can use any of the captions in the background, which you will have to look for^^

This was lineart from last year that I could only clean up so well. And scanner issues.... Still, I did spend hours on end today finishing this, about 6 hours straight.
From left to right, Kodiak, Yukon, and Shadow. (I know the proportions are off on Yukon).

If you really like it then please fav it^^

What's Shadow's idea?
"...And see, so you can't go faster than light, because space and time are linked, just think of being in a train driving by a clock tower, see, your velocity as you approach the speed of light has to trade out with time, because you're actually travelling through timespace, four dimensional space, not three, and so something that's going faster than something else - oh, no, I mean, you see, you can't go the speed of light because it's like a wave, and it will get stretched out, but see it will warp your perception of time on the tower because, no, I mean, it will actually change how you move according to-"

And Kodiak is thinking: What in the world is he ramlbing on about?

...He's actually literally a canine Einstein thinking of relativity...

Exactly. Except, something traveling at the speed of light has infinite mass. Thank goodness for subspace.

My apologies for the tardy response.

Wow. You've started a whole comic series since I made that original comment! I've wanted to but never got around to it :/

Late is better than never Which is a bit if an ironic thing to say as we discuss FTL travel...

"Exactly. Except,..."
You've forced me to be totally technically accurate. That's a mistake

Subspace isn't the only way to go. Of course there are a number of different ideas on how you could travel FTL, such as the alcuberrie drive or wormholes, but by far the most practical and realistic, in my own opinion, was discussed by H. David Froning in a very recent scientific abstract, in which he described FTL travel by rotating into higher dimensional space. The idea is that the mathematical plane on which an object travels is different from the plane of the rest of the universe. The plane on which this FTL vehicle would travel is called the X-tau plane, and the other plane on which the rest of the universe exists relative to the FTL object is called the XY plane. Understand first: imagine two planes, positioned identically to eachother, the XY and X-tau plane. Imagine you're viewing them head-on so they look like a line. Now rotate the X-tau plane like it's hinged on the XY plane. If you connect the endpoints, it will form a triangle, on a coordinate grid, XY-space will be the X-axis and the x-tau plane will be the hypotenuse. As you rotate further and further, travelling a short distance on the X-tau plane will project into an enormous distance on the XY plane. Insomuch, that even if you never exceed c in your own X-tau plane, you will exceed c on the XY plane, effectively travelling faster than light without actually doing so. Why this is better than the alcuberrie drive is that it doesn't require exotic matter. In order to create this x-tau rotation, you merely need to polarize the vacuum around your vehicle by emitting a conditioned EM field coupled with the underlying forces behind gravity and inertia, and it will cause X-tau rotation.

As you know from physics, F = M*A, 1 Newton of thrust gives 1 kilogram 1 meter/second^2 of acceleration, or A = F/M. This will always apply inertialy to your own local frame, but in reference to objects outside your local frame, such as the rest of the cosmos, your acceleration will be greater than your force divided by mass, so that A > F/M, how much greater will be directly proportional to a tangent of your X-tau rotation. So not only does it allow you to go FTL, but it also allows you to "cheat" spacecraft design and engineering and give you a free velocity boost.

Temporal paradoxes are prohibited; once said vehicle reaches the speed of light, it would vanish on the XY plane, only to re-appear many light-years away, in less than many years

To calculate how effective the drive is, you use a cosine. Now, to understand the higher dimensional rotation better, re-imagine it and forget that old thing about triangles I said earlier, start over. Think of 1/4 of a circle (like a fat pizza slice). Lay this "pizza slice" on it's side so that one side is horizontal, making the X-axis, and the other side is vertical, making the Y-axis. If you draw a line from the center to the edge, it will always have the same length, but not the same projection on the X-axis. That's a bit confusing: so just picture this: You draw a red line from the center to the edge near the bottom, a green line from the center to halfway up the pizza, and a blue line from the center to near the top of the pizza. If you look at it from above (edge-on), the red line will appear longest, green will appear shorter, and blue will appear shortest. When you're looking at it from the top, you're "projecting" the entire thing on the x-axis. To travel all the way from the center to the edge, you need only travel along the blue line. But since the blue line is shorter, you only have to travel a much shorter distance. Effectively, you travel farther in XY space than you do in your own local, X-tau space.

Ex: If your X-tau rotation is 45* and you're traveling 10 LY, then
Cos(45*) = 0.707
You only have to travel 7.07 LY

What if your X-tau rotation is 89*?
Cos(89*) = 0.017
You only have to travel 0.17 LY instead of 10

My apologies for being impossible to understand
