Description

As always, I'm no pro and I'll never claim to be. But this has worked for me so, try it. Seriously, if you can draw a stick figure, you can draw a person. It's how I learned, it's how many people learned to draw humans. If we learned that way, you can learn that way. Just practice.

This really helped me. I now have a basic sketch of a person. Or a silhouette seeing as it currently has no features.

hahaha, can't help with the dragons, but just practice and toy around with different things until you find what works. Also, study reference pictures.

You don't suck, you're learning. You're climbing a hill, and it may take time, but once you get to the top you're going to look back at how far you've come, feel amazing, then go off and find a bigger hill to climb.

I am learning a little, and I have come a long way from the crapy pics I did in school and there are cool pics I have done, like the cool SoI drawing I sent to the Yogscast last year. It still makes me smile when I see it, and that's a rare thing.

I think it's rare for most artists to have that piece that they can look at and feel really proud, being that most of us are really critical of our own work

Krys411 [2013-07-14 23:59:45 +0000 UTC]

I've always done this, and then I have to figure out why that arm-line is at such a weird angle 'cause my memory is just amazing. And then I get lazy and end up with multiple mannikin sketches

ShadowDragonia In reply to Krys411 [2013-07-15 00:13:29 +0000 UTC]

That's good that you already do this and yeah, I forget what I had planned sometimes too lol.

Accurate re-enactment of me and a weird-posed sketch: "Stick figure, why is your arm bent all out of whack? And it's really short. And your leg, what the hell? How is that even possible? What was I thinking- Oh yeah. Right right I remember now. Okay"
*Bored and doing more procrastinating*

XD So I'm NOT the only one who uses stick figures for the sketch. Whew.

ShadowDragonia In reply to ShadowShinigamiWolf [2013-07-14 23:24:32 +0000 UTC]

Haha, nah. That's how I learned and I still default back to that for complicated poses. It's a good technique. Everyone should learn it and never hesitate to use it when needed.
