An incomplete greyscale sketch of the Phantom as he is depicted in Phantom of the Paradise, a nineteen-seventies horror-rock opera film based loosely on the Phantom of the Opera about a musician who has his music stolen and, due to a freak accident with his head and vocal cords being crushed by a record press, haunts the rock palace of the man who stole his music. Despite being an complete flop in the theaters, lasting only one week in the United States, the only area Phantom of the Paradise made any sort of revenue was Winnipeg, in Canada, where the movie was a resounding success and ended up in theaters for about four months to a year and, for decades, the reason why was practically inexplicable.
I doubt that anyone new to watching me is going to know that I have sketched this character multiple times in the past and have always enjoyed the movie, or even know who the character is and what he is from. I am planning to add neon to the background, which is an overarching aesthetic theme throughout the movie, and make a few small adjustments to Winslow.
