Now onto the pic!~

So I found all these comic bases a long while back and saved a bunch to practice on later. Eventually, AOMS will be a comic of its own, but I haven't any experience with writing/drawing them. So I looked at, and saved a bunch of Seraphic's bases of sorts to use as practice. Now, these bases are merely training wheels for me. I am just getting a feel for this comic thing, and while it won't come for a long time, I wanna get practice in now while I have some time. Story is more important to me right now however, and until I get the plot and character designs and personalities down, comics will be a rare thing. Even on a base, they are super tiring to draw. pfft yeah right? who'da thought?

Anyways, so this scene isn't canon to AOMS in any way. I merely chose this base to inspire ideas. However, this scene does describe (relatively well) how the dynamic between Qrow and Gael starts off.

Qrow takes in Gael and trains him to be one of the militia's soldiers, but the relationship between these two characters is more than a subordinate to his Commander... It starts off that way, but it doesn't take long for that to change.
Qrow and Gael have a deeper connection than just that. Qrow subconciously looks at Gael like he is the child he has always yearned for. When they first meet, it was left up to him to take care of Gael's severe injuries. Qrow ultimately gets attached to Gael after getting to know the boy, and from then on he makes it his goal to protect and care for him. After Gael requests to join the militia, the higherups decide that Qrow will be his mentor/sword master. Qrow takes on the responsibility, and trains both Curtis and Gael. Qrow never used to be one to show favoritism amongst the men in his faction... but that took a very obvious turn when Gael came into the picture.

In Gael's perspective, he looks up to Qrow as a father. He doesn't remember his real father. Gregory was the only older male role model he knew, and while he loved his brother very much... it wasn't enough to replace that absent father figure. Qrow was the one to fill that void. Gael recognized the tenderness Qrow had shown to him. Ha appreciated the lengths Qrow went just to defend and protect him, and respected that Qrow even more for not coddling him. Qrow became something like family in his eyes, and he swore to protect Qrow, as Qrow did for him. Gael dreaded losing another person close to him, so this made his resolution all the more strong.

And that is pretty much it. Their dynamic goes deeper, but of course I don't want to spoil too much in regards of the story. There you will see their profiles in more depth (Gael's is currently undergoing an in depth rewrite, so nothing super in his except for his very basic stats and info kek)
