This was the first actual anime I'd ever seen and I was about 8 when I did, fell in love, showed it to my best friend, and now we're still watching and loving it, 10 years later :]

Awesome ^^ We've had Ghibli in the blood so to speak for a while as well, my sister being the one who introduced me. And now we own a wide collection and are always eager to watch others!

My roomate last summer took a class called "Japanese Pop Culture" and her homework assignments were to watch the films so every night we would watch them together. We watched Castle in the Sky, Princess Mononoke, Ponyo, My Neighbor Totoro, The Cat Returns, and Howl's Moving Castle. We also watched NausicaΓ€ of the Valley of the Wind which isn't Studio Ghibli but it was my absolute favorite of all of them. There we others that I cant remember or wasn't there for (definately take that class in college!)
Luckily I'd already seen Spirited Away and Kiki's Delivery Service so I didn't miss out on those. But there's still many I have to watch.

We have Kiki but I've never really seen it. It's my sister's favorite though, or one of them at least.

anyway, really wonderful work. i love how you actually made the water brown. it gives it a much more natural look and it always seems like water of any type - especially like you did - is really hard to pull off. congrats!
