I wish I could return to yesteryear,
Before childhood was finished with me,
Back to my secret place
Where everyone could see me
But I couldn't feel their stare,
When home meant more than a place to sleep,
When family meant more than blood.

Back then, time had little meaning,
I was blind to broken promises,
My heart could mend a thousand times
Without leaving any scars,
Lies were always coloured white,
A smile was not a veil,
I wish I could return to innocence.
