Description
As much as I love Nintendo, I will admit that as of lately, 3 series have sorta faltered from their care and become games that Nintendo rarely, if ever seems to give a damn about. It's become quite frustrating, as Nintendo seems to be scrapping it's serious games while putting emphasis on their kids games. Which, just feels like a dumb move. Look, I love Mario, Zelda, Fire Emblem and Pokemon as much as the next fan; but I have no interest in Animal Crossing or Splatoon, yet Nintendo is pushing them like they've ALWAYS been around nowadays.Metroid is the one I am the most saddened to see go. Not only was the series made at the exact same time as Mario and Zelda; but the plot and backstory for this game is probably the darkest Nintendo has ever made. Yet, since Metroid Prime; it seems like Nintendo would prefer the series died out. Fusion was a great game and the Prime series are great, but once Other M hit the scene and Nintendo got critical backlash from it; it seems they've decided that Metroid isn't worth putting effort into anymore. Galactic Federation was a cool concept, but unsurprisingly the fanbase did not approve and well.... the series is now in a state where if a new Metroid does come; it needs to be a home run or the series is probably done for. Especially after forcefully pulling a cease and desist on the Fan made "Another Metroid 2 Remake" which showcases that fans ARE interested in the series; just not the way Nintendo runs it right now.
NOTE: This was made before Metroid Prime 4, and Samus Returns were announced. The hype is big, so it's time to see if Nintendo can deliver that home run I mentioned. I'm praying that they are both awesome.
Star Fox many of you may defend by saying Star Fox: Zero recently came out. But here is the thing. Star Fox in my opinion is dead because Nintendo has decided all they can do is remake Star Fox 64 over and over due to fan backlash about Adventures and Assault. And while Adventures I can completely understand since it wasn't originally a Star Fox game AT ALL (it was actually Rare's Dinosaur Planet), but Assault I still find to be the best in the series; the concept of switching between ground and air combat on the fly was just so much fun; and I actually like the varied weapons much more then using the blaster/arwing all game. The other damning factor of Star Fox is that every game in the series feels the need to be a console gimmick game. Star Fox SNES pushed the FX-Chip, 64 the Rumble Pack, Assault the Gamecubes 3D rendering, Command the Touch Screen controls and Zero the Wii U's motion controller. Some of these worked great while others are best left forgotten. But seeing as that Zero was pretty much a pound for pound remake of Star Fox 64 which they already did with Star Fox 64 3DS, I really do doubt they will ever experiment with this series beyond that scope ever again.
Finally, F-Zero... this one is a tragic loss for me because while F-Zero wasn't Nintendo's biggest franchise, it will always hold a place in my heart. The experience of racing around at 800 KM per minute was something you could only get in F-Zero, same for the anti-gravity driving and ruthless murder you could commit on the track. However, since F-Zero Climax for the GBA this series has gone completely silent. It's a shame too, as I was honestly hoping for Nintendo to actually make a Bounty Hunter/detective style F-Zero game where you play as Captain Falcon and pursue Black Shadow. I mean; Captain Falcon is supposed to be an interstellar bounty hunter like Samus; how come he only ever got racing games? The Anime showcased what type of game this could have been. But I digress, with the newest Mario Kart getting the Anti-Gravity gimmicks and a new 200CC, it seems that F-Zeros gimmicks have been harvested for Nintendo's kart racer instead of their more serious racer.
Note: I have just discovered that Mute City, and Big Blue are in Mario Kart 8, and so is the Blue Falcon racer. So it seems my statement about F-Zero being harvested for Mario Kart is more then true. Come on Nintendo, you throw in the Squidlings and Link as racers, but not Captain Douglas J. Falcon? HE JUST WANTS TO SHOW US HIS MOVES!
Mega Man and Rash are there too, as Rareware and Capcom are also on hard times. They will likely never make games that captured our childhood like Mega Man or Donkey Kong Country ever again; and with both Mighty No. 9 and Yooka-Laylee failing to impress; it paints a sad picture for our longing for oldschool platformers.
EDIT: Microsoft and Rare confirmed a brand new Battletoads game; I'm honestly at a loss for words, but it looks like Rash may still have a chance to pull himself out of the gutter. Even getting hit with the Blue Falcon won't keep him down.
EDIT 2: Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair graced us; and revived 2D DKC style platformers. Again, the game industry surprises me.

Dunno. I found Mega Man 11 to be meh. Especially considering how much Capcom cancelled prior. Mega Man 11 just felt like Capcom shooting Mighty No. 9 the finger, more then anything.

The Blue-Falcon crashed through the place is such a nice touch. It's almost like Captain Falcon came here, while drunk... to get more drunk. x,D

Think Nintendo treats the MOTHER series better than F-Zero, Star Fox, and Metroid, despite only having three games?

That's hard to say. In Smash; they over represent smash. In Brawl, Lucas was pretty much center stage for a good chunk of the Subspace Emissary which confused non-Japanese players because we never got Mother 3. However, I'd say with Smash 4, their Mother love shifted to Fire Emblem, which received way more publicity then the Mother games.
On the game spectrum; I think they deserve the love they get, since they are all good games. It's just a shame it took us so long to get them. The main reason I apply this to Star Fox, F-Zero and Metroid is because they got multiple games and are considered staples of Nintendos franchises; With Metroid dating back to the same time as Zelda and Mario. Mother is big, but not nearly as big as they were. So no; I don't think Nintendo treats Mother better.
If they did, we'd have all 3 games on virtual console already, or they could've released the GBA "Mother Collection."

Well people always say the MOTHER series gets better each installment (Earthbound Beginings being the most hated installment) while Star Fox and Metroid get worse each installment despite all the series being published by the same company.

So what do you think about they way Nintendo treats Megaman in Smash Bros. compared to how Capcom treats it?

Honestly, in the one honest ploy that Nintendo gave Mega Man, they've given him more love then Capcom has in months. Capcom pushed the brand, milking it for all it's worth and not giving a single shit about if it became stale or forgotten, and cancelled projects fans were desperate to see be hits.
Nintendo, honored Mega Man, putting in a collection of his best music tracks, an icon stage (MM2 Skull Castle) and making Mega Man's custom moves all based on different abilities from the different games. It's an honest, solid effort to show Mega Man respect; especially showcased with his Final Smash.

Do you think they show more respect for him than, Metroid, Star Fox, and F-Zero?

Honestly; considering that they get the minimal amount of showcasing; I'd say Nintendo treating Mega Man like a first class property; on par with Mario, Pokemon and Fire Emblem; which at this point are the 3 most represented franchises in smash; and I think they did this because they knew just how bad fans wanted him to be good.
However; the DLC Protoman, Mega Man X, Mega Man.exe costumes weren't well received, most likely because fans would've preferred the characters to the Mii Costumes.

Except Star Fox, Pikmin 2, Smash Bros and as cameos in most Nintendo games. He gets more love then some of their bigger characters honestly.

Rob 64 is technically Rob; just an updated version. He kinda gets a lot of cameos nowadays. He was a playable character in Mario Kart DS (the largest Heavyweight in the game), and in Pikmin 2, his Gyro blocks are in the game, and he is in the game as the treasure: Remembered Old Buddy. I'm pretty sure he also appeared in Animal Crossing.

Man...you have no idea how right you are about this. Like you, I do understand why the big 4 are popular and need to be marketed, but those other things like Animal Crossing and Splatoon, and even ARMS...I never got that. I mean, I'm sure a Punch-Out game on Switch would be very desired. I can only hope one gets made down the line. Now, with F-ZERO missing in action for way too long, that is a very frustrating blow.
And yeah, you know, once you play F-ZERO games and master them, everything else is TOO slow. Yes, even Sonic games.

Agreed; that feeling of zipping across the finish line; "YOU GOT BOOST POWER!" zooming further ahead, having somebody zoom up "WATCH YOUR BACK!!" and the fun feeling of slamming into them and trying to ram them off the road...
You certainly don't get the same feeling in Mario Kart, especially since F-Zeros racing was based on actual skill; and not "How many items can I spam onto the track."

The best way to sum this up is this:
F-ZERO = skill-based, intense action, luck is hardly a factor if at all. Best played with strong friends or challengers.
Mario Kart = casual, more like a part game. Best played with friends. Also a very forgiving game.
A F-ZERO game, even if ported, should have at least offered online multiplayer to help it out, but numbers seemed to scare them away too much. That never stopped some of Fire Emblem's low selling games, now did it? There were at least two that didn't even have GX's numbers and yet, there's more of them. I love Fire Emblem, but come on!
