Description
"Took Riverrun from the Tully rebels, without loss of life. Lured the Unsullied into attacking Casterly Rock, sacrificing his childhood home in service to a greater strategy. Outwitted the Targaryen forces to seize Highgarden. Fought at the Battle of the Goldroad bravely, narrowly escaping death by dragonfire. Pledged himself to the forces of men and rode north to join them at Winterfell, alone. Faced the Army of the Dead, and defended the castle against impossible odds until the defeat of the Night King. Escaped imprisonment and rode south in an attempt to save the capital from destruction. Died protecting his queen." —Ser Jaime Lannister's entry in the White Book, writ by Lady Commander Brienne of Tarth of the KingsguardAye. As expected, and as it happened last season, I had to draw something for the finale of Game of Thrones. Saying goodbye to my favorite character has been hard, and under such tragic circumstances... and yet, at the very end, Jaime Lannister was a man of honor. He might have not believed it, as his self-hatred blinded himself to his virtues, and as not to drag his beloved Brienne of Tarth with him in the depths of his sorrow, he went to meet Death and rest as a true knight and a brother to his siblings.
Jaime Lannister might have been buried with his sins, but by the hand of his legacy, Brienne of Tarth, he will be remembered as the most honorable knight in the White Book. His legend as the man he always wanted to be but never had the chance to became with his death, and so he was reborn to earn his place in humanity's memory. In the future, there will be songs about the Lion of Lannister's deeds and his love for the Maid of Tarth, who succeeded him and became Westeros' first female knight by her lover's hand.
This scene is what has had me crying the whole day before. This, and the track by Ramin Djawadi of the same name, "The White Book". www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJfy5w… A most beautiful combination of "I Am Hers, She Is Mine" —the show's wedding/love theme— with "The Old Gods and The New, Jaime and Brienne's leifmotif. You do not need to be a genius to connect the dots and realize that the score married them in absentia. During that scene, I felt Jaime's presence, somehow, with Brienne. It was overwhelming. As if his spirit were right with her, watching silently and grateful how his beloved gave him the gift he always dreamed of. And, after all, she will be always carrying Jaime's heart with her in Oathkeeper. 'Tis what he said: "It's yours. It will always be yours."
I stuck to lineart and simple shading. Drawing stuff from Game of Thrones is complicated for me, because it is a style that I am not used to replicate. But I had to give my final tribute. To Jaime, to Brienne, and to this great, yet harsh, story.

I love this! I almost wish on the show they had shown him over her shoulder watching her. Then when she turns around, he's gone.
