Description I finished the game yesterday. I spent two whole days playing almost without pause and I've gotta say, it's one of the best games I've ever played. Of course, it's a Mystery Dungeon game, so that was kinda expected. The thing that actually surprised me was that this game almost equaled - it's virtually impossible to surpass - Explorers Of Time/Darkness/Sky in epic, legendary level.

So when I finished it, absolutely mesmerized by the story, the soundtrack and the graphics, I HAD to do a tribute drawing of this game. It was one of these moments I call "critical inspiration hit".

I won't give any spoilers of the story and the characters, if you've played it you'll know who is who and the role they play. If you haven't, then you'll find out if you play this amazing game.

My team is called Team Astrum. I was Snivy (Phoenix) and my partner was Axew (Alex) - now Serperior and Fraxure, both main characters and team name chosen in honor of my favorite character of Final Fantasy XIII, Hope Estheim, the phoenix being his symbol and Alexander his Eidolon, and his eidolith has the shape of a star, hence the name "astrum", which means "star". You can imagine my amazement when I found out that the whole plot of Gates To Infinity is strongly driven by hope, not to mention the Rainbow of Hope. I couldn't have chosen a better arc theme for my team.

Done by pencil, pencil colors and outliner pen. Effects and lighting done by Photoshop.

Long time since the last time I drew Pokémon, and this is the first time I've drawn... well, basically all these Pokémon except for Espeon and Umbreon. I found easier than usual drawing them, so I guess all this time doing Final Fantasy XIII artwork has been worth it in a way. Probably I'll try to draw more Pokémon in the future, this game made my Pokémon-fan-side come to the surface again. The Magnagate and the Entercards are kind of sketchy, but it's hard to draw something just by your memory. I think they're recognizable, though.

Hope you like it!

And play the game if you haven't, it's worth it.

I was also a Snivy and has been a Axew as partner. I gave my name to the main character and called my partner Cormen (don't search the origin, it's a random name).
I had a great moment with this game. I cried at the ending. :')

Let's talk about the drawing, want you? It's great! I really like it! This could be a beautiful movie poster! Keep it up! ^^

This was by far the best PMD game made. It was driven by so many relevant factors in today's life that I couldn't help but love the game.

honestly when i first got Gates to infinity i thought it was gonna be a little childish. But when paradise started building and just the whole goddamn Gurrdur mission...The first mission got me by complete surprise. Then the fact that like you wrote that everything was driven by hope or plain selfishness. How we contradict ourselves so often in real life (when it came to Munna). ),: proud to say i cried.

Creo que ya te lo dije por Twitter, pero este dibujo es demasiado perfecto y quería comentártelo por aquí también ;-;

Los Pokémon te quedaron estupendos, ¡con lo difícil que es dibujarlos! D: La anatomía Pokémon es asdfg ; ___ ;

Y a ver si me hago con una 3DS y lo juego, coñe, que de tantas buenas críticas oídas sobre el juego a una le entran ganas de jugar >:T

Gahfdjkrk gracias mil, Blanca.

Lo de la 3DS tiene fácil remedio, hay emuladores de 3DS ya si mal no recuerdo. Si encuentras el juego por la red, te lo bajas, y podrás jugarlo. Y DEBES HACERLO. ES UN JUEGO MUY, MUY GRANDE.

Same here! I was absolutely mesmerized by this game! I was kinda disconnected from Pokémon because of Final Fantasy XIII and then I got Gates To Infinity and... whoa, my Pokémon hype grew up to eleven! <3

I'm glad you like it! Thanks for your comment! <3

yup, mine too, i cried at the end... also i was not expecting Munna. Sure the big evil ghost from the past game was evil- but the pretty one with the flowers... wow

The plot in this game was far and away the best plot that Pokemon has ever done, and if you ask me, if completely stomps Explorers. Admittedly it's more because I didn't think Explorers was THAT good with the painfully slow and borderline pointless first third and a lack of developed characters that really got involved in your adventures, but it was still a massive leap forward for the pokemon franchise storywise.

Anyway, what's this? No comments? One of the better artworks based on gates to Infinity to be sure!

Yeah, I actually found it more serious and darker than the previous installments, but you know, there's so many fans of Explorers and I usually try to be diplomatic in my opinions. There's some flaws of gameplay in Gates To Infinity like the fact you just can go to one mission each time and the few starter Pokémon choice, but plot-wise, it was absolute perfection.

Oh, do you think so? I'm so glad you like it! I didn't spend so much time in this, it was a critical hit of inspiration, but anyway, thanks for your comment and your opinion! º3º

I think the story in Explorers was partially seen as so good because I think the vast majority expected a bare bones plot at best ala the main series and got a story that was actually quite good instead. Vastly surpassing expectations can make anything seem great and this is where Gates to Infinity had a challenge - for the first time in Pokemon history, people were expecting something good story-wise.

GTI was a flawed game to be sure with low starter/pokemon count, slow text speed and poor word efficiency (scenes that could get the same level of detail in four minutes were often extended into seven minutes to just rephrase things. Explorers had this problem too, but it wasn't as big an issue.) Then again, GTI did a lot of things right - a great story, excellent soundtrack and visuals, and the paradise/mysteriosity features to give more incentive and reward to doing tasks/making the dungeons more varied meaning that strategies have to often be altered. Oh, and changing leader on the fly while in a dungeon was also great. I feel as though it took quite a few risks, something the Pokemon franchise tends not to do too much, haha!
