Description Eh...Not entirely happy with how the picture turned out, but I guess it's good enough. I haven't been feeling too well lately, and I had to rewrite this chapter because my table did an update while I was writing and yadda, yadda, you probably don't want to hear me rambling, so here's the story. It has been edited to the best of my abilities. There's also a bit of possibly sensitive material in here, so you've also been warned.

A Different Time, A Different World: Chapter 3, Not a Vampire!
Art and story belong to me, but Pokemon belongs to Nintendo.
Please read the chapter before commenting on the story, unless you want to comment on the art.

Of course, the story is in Donovan's POV. And sorry... I know the chapter is long...

The story begins now:

I shifted slightly and felt my skin immediately throb. I winced a little and looked outside to see if the sun had fallen. It mostly has. The sun had burned me today and badly. I couldn’t find a good hiding spot until the middle of the afternoon when I found a dead tree with a hole in its stump. It was just big enough for me to crawl into, but the sun still hit me just a tad. Now with it being finally nighttime, I can come out. I slowly got out and looked at my arms and see that there was blistering going on.

“Mrar!”

I looked down and saw Litten walk up to me with something in his mouth, and he drops it at my feet. I reach down, but I couldn’t reach it. My burns wouldn’t allow me to pick it up. Litten picked up the item and placed it in my hand. I read it, and it was a Burn, Heal. I unscrewed the cap and started to rub the cream on my skin. It stung for a few seconds before an icy cool feeling took over and erased the throbbing of my burns. I felt so much better. I lied on the ground and let the medicine work its magic with the burns. I closed my eyes just for a few minutes and relaxed. It was just nice. Listening to the Pokémon in the forest… Hearing the breeze…  Hearing a bird chirping for its life… Wait a minute. I quickly sit up and see that Litten has a Pikipek pinned down. “Litten, get off,” I demanded. Litten got off the little bird, and it quickly hopped over to me, dragging its wing. I should just have let Litten take it and eat it, but the little creature had come over to me instead of fleeing in the forest. I picked up the little fellow and took a look at his wing. He had a burn, but that was alright. I put some of the medicine on his wound and set him back down. “Alright, go now,” I told the Pikipek, but it didn’t. It just stayed, and it stared at me. “Oh, no. I’m not taking another Pokémon.”

“Yes, you’ve got to. Lillie gave you the Island Challenge keychain. You’re also an official Pokemon Trainer and here’s your Trainer Passport.”

Rotom tossed me a booklet with a card in it and a stamp in it. My ID photo had a picture of me sleeping, but from a different point of view, somebody would have thought that I blinked in the picture.

“Oh, and here’s a backpack. It came with the Passport.” Rotom said.

“I told you guys… I don’t want to do this.” I replied.

“But don’t you want to see your mom again? Don’t you want to go back home? Don’t you want to become human again…?”

I paused. I slowly looked at Rotom. “What do you know…?” I said darkly. “You read my journal, didn’t you?” I glared at Rotom, ready to kill him.

“Well… uh… yeah. I did. It was fascinating and- whoa!”

I swiped at him, but I missed. He’s dead. He’s going to be dead. I’ll crush the life out of him and the device that he’s living in.

“Okay, okay, I’m sorry! But just- it was so exciting when it got to the Solgaleo part and everything!”

As soon as it came, it left. The feeling and the wanting to kill Rotom left. I sighed. Rotom’s an idiot, but I guess he didn’t know. I didn’t tell him he couldn’t read my journal, so I suppose this is my fault, but that doesn’t still mean I’m not mad at him. “Rotom never read my diary. It’s private.” I said. I got up and started to walk away. I paused for a second and looked back to see them still following me. “And quit following me! I don’t want to be a Trainer! I just want to be left alone!” I quickly ran into Hau’oli City, leaving them far behind. As I walked through the city, I was mostly the only one on the empty street. There were a few ‘numbskulls’ as I would call them, but they didn’t last long. My hunger got the best of me, and I took out at least ten of similarly dressed people. They all introduced themselves as being a part of some gang called Team Skull. They also do this weird punk dance before they had challenged me to a battle, but before they could bring out their Pokémon, I drained them of their precious blood that gave them life. Bodies were scattered, and I didn’t even bother moving them. There was no one around anyways. I am currently covered in blood, and I’m sure if anyone were to see me right now, they would scream. My burns from earlier are long gone by now. I found that very strange that I had healed so quickly. As I was heading into the docks, I heard some tussling going on in an alleyway. There I saw a guy with pink hair and tan skin. In his hair, I saw a charm, and I immediately knew who this was. It was Captain Ilima. His specialty was Normal-type Pokémon, and his primary partner was a Smeargle. He was being harassed by a couple of other numbskulls who were trying to steal his Pokémon. My monster side of me started to show and with one bite to each of their necks and a few second pause, they were dead as a doornail. Ilima looked at me with no expression. The light of a nearby lamp shined on me and the blood glimmered brightly. My hunger was great, but my patience was low. I was considering if I should take out Ilima, but soon after, he quickly spoke.

“You’re… you’re a… a vampire. I didn’t know they existed… I thought they were a… a myth. Tell me, the creature of the night, how old are you? Where do you come from?”

“Creature of the night? Vampire? Seriously?! Why do you people accuse me of such awful things!” I yelled at him. How dare he accuse me? So, what? I’ve done some bad thing since I was here, but that doesn’t mean I’m a creature of the night…

“Take a look around. Tell me what you see, then let’s take a walk over to the dock and talk.” Ilima said.

I looked. Limp bodies of people were in front of me. Whatever blood was in them was dripping out of their necks where I bit them. I… I’m a monster. I am a vampire. Whatever hope I had of being still a bit human had left me. I’m no longer a human, but a blood drinking creature. Being a vampire just fueled my hate towards everyone. Knowing this I formation just killed whatever mercy I had towards other human beings. This guy… This Ilima guy… He likes the fact that I’m a monster. He liked the fact that I had killed in front of him. At least, that’s what I’m getting from his voice. Who’s really who? Am I the bad guy here? Or is it this guy who seems okay that I had just fed right in front of his very own eyes. I’m just taking people out because I’m hungry. He liked it because I’m a monster.

“Oh my gosh! Donovan, you idiot! You can’t just be going around and challenging Captain Ilima whenever you want!”

Rotom immediately flew next to me and a minute later, Pikipek and Litten are positioned for battle.

“Donovan’s your name? Pleased to meet you! Are you a participating Trainer in the Island Challenge?” Ilima asked.

“No-”

“Yes, he is! He may say he’s not, but really, he is!” Rotom interrupted.

“Rotom! Stop! I’m not doing that stupid Island Challenge thingy!”

“Shut up, and yes you are. Ilima, he’s just a very stubborn guy. Ignore him and let’s get on with this battle!”

I really couldn’t fight Rotom. He was relentless when it came to this Island Challenge thing. I leaned against the buildings and watched as Ilima sent out a Yungoos and Pikipek hopped over and started to fight the Yungoos. Pikipek was strong to my surprise. With just a few Rock Smash’s, he quickly defeated the Normal-type Pokémon. Ilima then sent out his Smeargle. Even though I never commanded this Pokémon, it seemed to know what it needed to do and what to use. I watched as it was ready to use another Rock Smash on the Smeargle, the Smeargle moved first and used Tackle on the little bird. This sent Pikipek flying at my feet. I stared at the injured bird for a few seconds before glaring at Ilima. From here, Litten took over. The Smeargle used Water Gun, but Litten used Ember to counter it. Instead, the water heated up and it was soon sprayed on Litten. I watched as Litten got up and now was mad. I saw the sparks of hate in Litten’s eyes before his mouth started to have embers coming out of it. He charged at Smeargle and bit onto him as Litten used Fire Fang. I enjoyed the part where both Yungoos and Smeargle were both down and were returned into their little balls of comfort because that’s also the part where Ilima was my dessert. Though, I left enough blood in him that he should be okay. He’ll just be out of it for a little while.  As I was just getting out of the docks, I started to hear a commotion in a different alleyway with lots of banging around. I decided to check it and there was a Magnemite in it with a Makuhita. The Magnemite was having trouble because of a few metal garbage cans stuck to it and the Makuhita was trying to help it. I sighed and pushed the Makuhita aside and started to pull the trash off it. The Makuhita helped me and I got it out of the alley before another thing gets connected to the Magnemite. I let go of the Magnemite and started to head to Route 2. I want to get through it before the sun comes up, but that could be a little tricky. Who knows what I’ll run into, but first, I’ll go ahead and go to the cemetery for a little training. I looked behind me to see Rotom, Pikipek, Magnemite, Makuhita and Litten following me around. Of course, Litten is carrying around my new backpack with all my junk I had forgotten on the beach. I finally give up. It’s useless telling them to go away. Once I got to Route 2, I let my Pokemon train for a while at the Hau’oli Cemetery. I watched as I sat on a gravestone. The night was beautiful and peaceful. A slight breeze blew the tree leaves and as I’m starting to relax, I head this chilling, little girl’s laugh echo throughout this place. My Pokémon notice it too, so we decided to leave, however, we got the feeling that someone was following us. I look behind me, actually getting a sense of someone else’s presence and I see a Gastly. Of course, why not? The route wasn’t too long and as the dawn came, I let my ‘Team’ roam around. The only one who stuck with me was Gastly. The cave was just fine, despite the fact there was a few rays of light coming from the holes on the top. There was enough light to see that the cave has some grass and moss, so I found a nice, fluffy, spot to hang out and rest on. I used the backpack as a pillow and Gastly floated down next to me and rested too. As the sun came up, we rested and soon fell asleep. When I felt a slight nudge with my leg, I immediately woke. There, buzzing above my head was Rotom and looking down at me was Litten. The beams of light in this cave shown much brighter now and as I sit up, there, standing with someone helping them, was Ilima. He looked a little peeved, but also looked a little… drained. I also noticed the gauze patch on his neck and I smiled.

“Well, well, well… look who we have here.” Ilima said. “The name is Donovan, right?”

“Yeah. What do you want?”

“Congrats! You have entered Verdant Cave, which means, you’re stuck in my Trial until you can complete it!”

“You’re joking, right?”

“Nope!” Ilima replied. “The rules are simple. All you’ve got to do is go around, defeat three Pokémon in this cave, then go out in the back there and grab your Z-Crystal. Oh, and I forgot that there’s this one really strong Totem Pokémon guarding the Z-Crystal too. You’ve got to defeat it and get the Z-Crystal. And that’s all you need to do to complete your Challenge, vampire!”

“I’m not a vampire!” I yelled at him. Jeez, what’s up with this freak? “Team, gather around.” I waited until Litten, Gastly, Makuhita, Magnemite, and… I quickly did a doubletake. Instead of the usual Pikipek I saw, I saw a Trumbeak instead. This can’t be Pikipek, can it? I hopped over with the group, and they all gathered around. “Alright, um, so apparently, we’re in a Trial. So… I need you guys to go out and defeat three Pokémon in this cave, alright? I’ll meet you at the end, alright?” My Team looked at me with the ‘are you kidding me’ faces. “Fine. Guess I’ll go and look around.” I started to walk forward when I heard some scratching in a hole nearby. As I peeked in, a wild Yungoos jumped out and tried to attack me. It bit onto my face, and when I ripped it off and dropped it on the ground, Litten hacked up a flaming hairball on it. The scene was so pathetic. It was like something out of a cartoon. I hope Ilima counted this as a knockout. I continued, and soon a Yungoos ran out in front of me. It ran across my feet, and I accidently kicked it. I hope that counts as one, too. Then I saw a Gumshoos run out of one and back into a hole. I tried catching it, but the son of a gun kept on moving back into the tunnels and quite quickly, my Team helped me out by blocking two out of the tree holes nearby. Trumbeak was helping me out by sticking his beak into the hole; then he ripped out Gumshoos. With one fierce Rock Smash, Gumshoos was surely out. We were finally allowed pass the back of the cave, and once outside, we felt a presence of some Pokémon watching us. I must have been the Totem Pokémon. My Pokémon stayed behind, but I slowly walked forward to the totem ahead of me. It held a diamond-shaped object that was gray, but shiny. I reached in when I heard a loud roar of a creature and something attacked. A large Gumshoos stood on top of me, growling at me before Litten attacked it. They both fought each other with powerful attacks and soon, Litten's fire attacks burned the Gumshoos. After it had seemed like they were both tiring out, Litten started to glow? A blue light covered the little cat, and his form began to change. He got a lot bigger, and some features about him began to change. The light quickly faded, and he was now a Torracat. Dang… My team is growing quite nicely. I walked up to the totem and ripped out the Z-Crystal. I walk back into the cave and a few steps in, I already step on an Alolan Diglett.

End of Chapter.

... The people of Hau'oli City suck at noticing all the bodies that were laying around. Of course, the police are already searching, but they can't figure out what kind of creature would drain their victims of their blood. The only person who knows is Ilima and Donovan is considering on taking him out for good. He's just a weird creep after all. And Ilima's also crazy about how he just encountered Donovan, a vampire boy. Again, Donovan really doesn't want to believe that he's a monster, despite the fact he is one. Donovan is also getting colder with the people around this world. The only person he found so far was Lillie, but that's been about a week or two since he encountered her.

Pikipek did evolve. Don't act surprised. They evolve at lv. 14. Rotom is that annoying best friend who drags you into things. Pikipek/Trumbeak is the quit guy. Litten/Torracat can be rash when fighting an opponent. Gastly is the creepy girl who likes playing hide-and-go-seek, laughs creepily and has a little girls' voice and follows Donovan wherever he goes. Magnemite is always getting itself stuck to metal things. Otherwise, it doesn't do much. Makuhita is a kind girl, but she often scatters things around in Donovan's backpack. And Diglett, he was forced into a PC Box whether he liked it or not. And any Pokemon that were hurt by Donovan are recovering in the Pokemon Center. They should be okay within a week or two, hopefully.

...and after Donovan's Trial, he had to put on more Burn Heal...

I imagine potions and things like that are spray-on.
Ice Heals and Burn Heals are like lotions/creams.
Awakening is smelling salts.
Paralyze Heals is a needle to give to yourself/Pokemon.
Antidotes are pills for curing poisoning.
Full Heals are needles, and so are Full Restores.

Every time Donovan wants to heal his Pokemon at a Pokemon Center, he has to pay 300 Poke Coins (basically like buying a Burn Heal).

Team Stats:
Torracat lv. 20 (male)
Trumbeak lv. 16 (male)
Magnemite lv. 16 (doesn't have a gender)
Gastly lv. 16 (female)
Makuhita lv. 17 (female)

And Diglett who is boxed was lv. 9 and is a male.

I think I covered all my bases...
