I had a thumbnail sketched up of her pushing the pups in the bark across the land bridge. Which I might go back and draw one day. For now I got to get other stuff off my to-do-list. Just glad I got this done! Turn out better than I thought it would. Had more fun with the dynamic pose the anatomy might be a bit off.

A little story to go with it:

Huffing, Thrya continued to push the large bowl like piece of bark that held her two pups. That day started out just like any other. She was just about to leave the little den and go hunting but oddly large amounts of animals came running and screaming past her. She had turned to see what had them running only to be faced alarming fast paced fire and balls of fire flying from the mountain.

She didn’t freeze. She couldn’t. She had to get her pups out of there. She couldn’t just save one and leave the other. She would not. Not after everything else that had happened. She wasn’t going to lose anyone else. Quickly scanning the area for something she could carry both in she had found a large piece of bark. She quickly placed both pups in. And starting pushing towards the sand land bridge. It was risky going across there. But staying meant death.

She continued to push as fast and as hard as she could. Past the ash and crackling fire. Ignoring the heat, not giving into the searing pain in her throat and chest. She had to get her little family to safety. Her mind flashed to the other nice helpful wolves she had met on the island. Hoping they would be safe.

As she made it to the other side of the sandy land bridge she slowed up her pace to take a breather, free from the fire and ashy air. But she looked at the looming forest in front of her. What new dangers would be in there?

Not waiting to hang around, to let others see her, Thrya continued pushing on through the forest. Hers pups looked around in daze and wonder. She walked and walked until she found somewhere that seemed safe and quite in the cool forest. Exhausted she came across a large tree that seemed to have a little empty hollow at the base of it. It would have to do as a temporary den for now, but once rested she would seek a sturdier, hidden one later. But for now this would have to do.

Carefully grabbing the tired pups, she placed them deep inside the empty tree hollow. Smiling at seeing them alive and safe she went to step in to join them in rest but her tummy grumbled in protest. She had not had the chance to hunt for a couple of days and all the effort to escape and travel had used up all of her reserved energy. Rest with the pups would have to wait. She need to go get food. She heisted leaving, looking forlorn at them. She hoped they would be safe and well-hidden tucked in at the back while she was out.

She walked slowly in a diameter around the tree and spotted a weird creature up ahead. Creeping low she moved towards it. Was this thing prey? Thrya cocked her head. It looked like a deer. But if was smaller and also looked like pig. She inched closer, was it worth it to try?

This thing could be dangerous or even poisonous! But her tummy rumbled again in protest. She had to take the risk. Starving to death would not help her pups either. So Thrya dug her heals in to the ground and gave chase to the fast little deer cross hog thing.
