This is a very late reference for the beautiful Akil whom I adopted from =Baringa-of-the-Wind almost 2 months ago

Phenotype : A deep rich chestnut, definitely closer to bay though genetic testing has proved him to be chestnut. Gray around his eyes, muzzle and genital areas
Markings : Four even socks and a stripe similar to his mother’s – dipping in at the centre on his off-side. A freeze-brand of ‘BS’ on his near hindquarters.

Physical Appearance : He’s quite a bulky chap for where he’s come from, since we can’t really find how he’s lost the daintiness of all the ancestors we can trace – although we don’t know exactly where Juliette comes from, so it must be from her side. He has large, strong muscles in his shoulders and quarters, a deep chest and well-sprung ribs. Long, clean legs and the lovely arch you see in Arabs – although his neck is thicker, but nonetheless as beautiful. He has a dainty, dished profile that contrasts against the rest of his build, but gives him that Araby look. His mane and tail have been let to grow long and are thicker than his parent’s but are always so shiny and easy to groom

However, we love him to pieces, and he’s more affectionate than we’d expect, since he’s a real ass when he’s being ridden.

History : Born at Beaumont in late spring, just when the grass was coming in nicely and all the trees had blossom – it was lovely – we came out into the fields one day and quite unexpectedly were greeted by Akil’s whinny from over the field! Luckily, he was none-the-worst for being foaled out in the cool of the field, and Juliette, as expected, was a wonderful mother. It was sad to see them separated, but we do let them see each other and even be in the same field in the winter (you can’t be too careful with stallions)
He was backed when he was 2 and broken in in the early months of his third year and is currently being schooled up in dressage while he is excelling in halter shows already!

Notes from MLS : We simply adore having Akil here at Meadow Lark Stables. He's such a character, full of spunk, and to be honest a bit of arrogance. He shows so much promise of making a fine dressage horse. We're pleased to announce that he's already making "eyes" at the lady we've picked for future breedings so perhaps little Akils will be running around soon!
