Description

Here is a second collection of UFOs I made in SketchUp as sort of a “part 2” to my first “Watch the Skies” model collection I posted a while back.

NOTE: None of the models are to scale with each other. The image posted here was touched up in Photoshop where I added flames and glows (these are not in the 3d model). Some ships didn't have pictures (Maury Island UFO in particular) or there were multiple artist impressions of the craft made from the witness descriptions, (Travis Walton UFO in particular) so I improvised my own take on some of these ships. Most UFOs don't have a lot of details in them so I put some of my own in here and there.

You can download or view (right in the browser) the 3d model here: 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model…

You can use these models for whatever you want, even modify them, as long as you DO NOT sell them for personal profit, or claim them as your own work.  If you use them please let me know about it (although you don’t have too) but you must please credit me at least in writing somewhere along with your work for the original 3d models.

Here is a description of each craft:

A) Lubbock Lights UFO - Boomerang, chevron or flying-V-shaped craft have been reported worldwide for decades. Arguably, the most famous appearance of such a craft in recent decades was during the “Phoenix Lights Incident” (see below), but one of the first reports came out of Lubbock, Texas on the evening of August 25, 1951. Three professors from Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech University) claimed they observed a V-shape arrangement of lights pass over one of the professor’s homes. Under anonymity, the professors told their story to the local newspaper, and then more reports of the lights came in from other witnesses. On August 30, Carl Hart, Jr., a freshmen at the same university was able to photograph the lights and submitted them to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. They were eventually reprinted in papers throughout the country as the story spread. The United States Air Force eventually became involved in the case as part of Project Blue Book and initially explained that the lights were caused by the reflection of street lamps on a flock of birds called Plovers. They later retracted their claim to conclude only that  the lights were not birds, but were still caused by a naturally occurring phenomena although there was no further explanation.

B) The “Ummo” UFO - Definitely one of the most bizarre UFO cases on record came on September 27, 1989 out of Voronezh, Russia, where a group of children saw a strange sphere in the sky. They brought it to the attention of nearby adults who claimed that as the sphere drifted downward it took a more oval shape and had a stylized “H”-symbol  on the bottom side. The craft eventually landed and two giant creatures emerged that were described as twice as tall as a human, with very elongated arms and dome-like helmets under which three glowing eyes appeared. A third creature with them was cube-shaped and believed to be some kind of robot. The two beings had the same “H” emblem on buckle-like objects in the middle of silvery spacesuits. The creatures apparently abducted one of the children, a 16-year-old-boy, freezing him in place with some kind of handheld tube and carrying him away aboard the ship, after which it flew away at high speed. This craft was reportedly seen earlier in repeated sighting over southern France and Spain during the 1960’s and 70’s, with witnesses identifying the same symbol. These sightings along with other bizarre events related to the symbol have become known as the “Ummo Affair” which also involved a group of European Ufologists claiming they received strange letters in the mail from extraterrestrials living on Earth. The letters from beings who call themselves the “Ummo,” also contained samples of their language in which the same “H” symbol also appeared many times. The same symbol has also been reported to appear over again in crop circle formations.

C) “Spinning Top” UFO - This inverted cone-shaped object has an arrangement of “vibrating spines” along the top and was sighted in Vins-sur-Caramy, France on April 14, 1957. Three witnesses, Marie Garcin, Julia Rami and Jules Boglio claimed they heard a deafening roar from a machine that “hopped” from one side of a road to the other and violently rattling nearby road signs.  Days before, on April 12 of that year, a similar cone-shaped craft was reported passing over a motorway causing an electromagnetic effect that stalled an observer’s car. The witnesses claimed the object landed, or flew very close to the ground in a sort of skipping pattern. Authorities who later investigated the scene claimed to find areas of scorched and dead vegetation. The case was investigated by Project Blue Book but concluded the sighting was a hoax.

D) West Memphis, Arkansas UFO - This 30-meter wide, flat canister-like object was witnessed by a the crew of a DC-3 airliner on March 20, 1950 near West Memphis, Arkansas. It was observed for at least 25 minutes before it reportedly took off at supersonic speeds. The blueish metallic object had a dozen “porthole” like openings on the underside from which a bright purplish vapor or energy was emitted.

E) Travis Walton UFO - On November 5th, 1975, logger Travis Walton, was part of a work crew cutting down trees in Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Snowflake, Arizona. The crew were headed home for the night when they claim they encountered this brightly lit saucer hovering over the logging road. Travis got out of the truck to take a closer look but the craft hit him with a beam knocking him to the ground. Terrified, the other men quickly fled the scene, but later returned to find the UFO and Travis were gone. Travis claims he later awoke in a strange room and being examined by a group of short, bald-headed beings with large eyes. He violently fought them off until another being, this one more human-looking, entered the room to calm him down. The being took him to another room with other humans, one of whom placed a mask over Travis’ face and he fell unconscious again. Travis later recalled that he awoke along the side of a road catching a glimpse of the saucer flying away. He had been reported missing for five days. An investigation started into the case with the National Enquirer paying Walton and his co-workers $5,000 for their story. Authorities gave the men polygraph tests and they all allegedly passed, except for one which was inconclusive. Skeptics however maintain the story was an elaborate hoax perpetrated for financial gain. Travis’ story was the basis for the 1993 movie Fire in the Sky.

F) Maury Island UFOs - On June 21st, 1947, harbor patrolman Harold Dahl was working on Puget Sound near Maury Island in Washington state. Along with him was his son and family dog. Dhal claims he heard a peculiar buzzing and turned to see five donut-shaped objects with large “portholes” along the sides that appeared over the bay flying in formation. A sixth craft was just above the water and seemed to be in some sort of trouble. One of the other craft broke formation to touch down on top of the lower craft. Moments later the lower craft released a shower of what Dhal described as lava or hot metal, much of which landed in the water, but some hit his boat, killing his dog and injuring his son. Afterward the UFOs all flew toward the Pacific Ocean. Dhal claimed he managed to take photos of the craft and retrieved some of the metal fragments. He later reported the incident to his supervisor Fred Crisman. An investigation soon began conducted by both investigator Kenneth Arnold (see below) and the Air Force. In the days that followed, Dhal reported other strange happenings; like his son going missing for days and turning up without memory of what happened to him. He also claimed he was visited by a “man in a black” who threatened him to not continue to discuss his encounter. To make matters worse, the two Air Force investigators involved in the case were killed while on their way back to base with some of Dhal’s metal samples when their plane crashed. Dhal’s photos never surfaced, and the metal fragments were identified as pieces of aluminum. Eventually the FBI concluded Dahl and Crisman concocted the elaborate hoax to profit off the media exposure.

G) McMinnville UFO - On May 11, 1950, Evelyn Trent was walking back to her farm near McMinnville, Oregon, when she saw a strange silvery object in the sky. She quickly ran to find her husband who came outside and also saw the object. He went back in the house to fetch a camera and just in time to snap several photos of the object before it flew away at incredible speed. The object was hat-shaped and had a peculiar off-center antenna at the top. Weeks later, newspapers around the country began to publish the controversial photos, and they even appeared in Life magazine. Many UFO researchers consider the images as genuine proof of a flying saucer, while skeptics claim it was a hoax possibly using the side mirror off a Ford pickup truck which had a similar offset “antenna” on the backside.  Interesting enough, the French Air Force reported that just weeks before the Trent sighting, an unnamed pilot was sent out to intercept a mysterious radar blip when he reported a strange looking object had paced his aircraft for several minutes before taking off at incredible speed. He managed to snap a photo of it with his gun camera and the object bears remarkable similarity to the McMinnville saucer.

H) Betty and Barney Hill UFO - The first widespread report of an “alien abduction” case was that of Betty and Barney Hill, an interracial couple who claimed that in September 1961 they were driving at night in a remote forest area of the White Mountains of New Hampshire when they noticed a strange light in sky that appeared to be following them. At one point Barney stopped at a scenic overlook to observe the object with binoculars. He described what he saw as a pan-shaped object lined with large windows and lighted fins protruding from the sides. The couple continued on their way but the light grew closer and eventually came over the car forcing Barney to stop in the middle of the road. The terrified couple saw that within the windows of the craft were several humanoid figures looking down at them. Barney turned the car around and tried to flee, but a bright light soon engulfed them and the couple passed out. They then awoke several hours later, back in their car, and on a road but some 30 miles from where they last were. The couple sought psychiatric help after experiencing nightmares with one doctor placing them under hypnosis. The two described more detail about the event, such as being medically examined by strange creatures with large almond-shaped eyes. Betty said the beings spoke to her telepathically stating they came from the Zeta Reticuli star system. She even drew a diagram of the system recalling it being displayed on a screen. Although the Hill’s accounts have been dismissed as a hoax, or perhaps the result of hypnotic suggestion, in the time since, thousands of people around the world have come forward with their own incredible stories of being taken aboard strange ships and encountering similar-looking beings.

I) Recife, Brazil UFO - This oval shaped saucer was reported in 1952 over the costal city of Recife, Brazil and seen as far south as Rio de Janeiro. It was allegedly photographed over Barra de Tijuca by photographer Eduardo Keffel who witnessed the object along with journalist Joao Martins and later published the photos in the magazine O Cruzeiro. The photos showed a peculiar saucer with an off-center “dome” and oval-shaped hull unlike that of other disk-shaped craft.

J) Kenneth Arnold UFOs - On June 24th, 1947, aviator Kenneth Arnold reported that he was flying over Mount Rainer in Washington state when he saw several flashes of light on the horizon that caught his attention. The lights were sunlight glinting of several metallic objects flying in a chain formation at very high speed. Each object appeared to be a disk, or saucer-shaped craft while a separate and far larger one appeared to be a crescent-shaped wing that was escorting them. The sighting which came on the heels of the infamous Roswell Incident, earned nationwide press coverage with Arnold’s description of the craft coining the term “flying saucer.”  Skeptics claim Arnold saw meteors, a flock of pelicans, or experimental military aircraft, however Arnold’s sighting was corroborated by several other witnesses on the ground who claim they saw similar objects that day and in the following weeks. Arnold himself would go on to become a UFO investigator taking on cases such as the Maury Island Incident (see above).

K) Rendlesham Forest UFO - In late December 1980, a series of reported UFO sightings occurred around RAF Woodbridge, and RAF Bentwaters; which at the time were joint British and United States air force bases in and around Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk, England. The incident became known as the “British Roswell”. Most of the sightings occurred at night and were described as strange lights in the sky and within the surrounding woods. At one point a brightly pulsating object appeared hovering just outside main gate for several minutes before drifting down into the woods where it appeared to land. Soldiers we deployed to investigate with one later claiming he saw a small triangular-shaped craft sitting on the ground which he allegedly touched before it lifted off and shot into the sky. Other lights were seen over the base casting beams of light to the ground. At this same time it was reported that control of the base’s nuclear arsenal was being interfered with or completely disabled. Later, the Bentwater’s deputy base commander Lieutenant Colonel Charles I. Halt, investigated the matter. When he arrived, his team saw an unusual red light darting around in the woods and decided to track it down. He recorded the incident on audio tape where he described the light as a strange blinking eye. The next day his men found and photographed charred and damages trees, including a triangular burn pattern on the ground as if something had landed. Halt later claimed that he and his men were ordered to stay silent on the matter by their superiors. Debunkers claim that Halt saw nothing more than the blinking light of a nearby lighthouse.

L) “Ice Cream” UFO - Photographs of this strange object were acquired by UFO researcher, and former US Air Force officer, Lt. Col. Wendelle C. Stevens, who claimed the images were given to him anonymously. The pictures were taken in the late summer, or early fall of 1972 near Maniwaki Quebec, Canada. The witness claimed the object was spotted floating near the ground and was approximately 60 - 70 feet tall. As the witness approached the object, it lifted off into the sky with a wobbly spin. It had a dozen fluorescent orange globes along the outer edge and along the very top were four pinkish globes. The witness was able to snap several photos of the object before it disappeared from sight.

M) Adamski Cigar-shaped UFO - During the 1950’s and 60’s, George Adamski became a popular figure in ufology circles for his claims of contact with alien beings he called “The Nordics” which he described as tall humanoids with light skin and blonde hair. He chronicled these visitations and his alleged travels to space and other planets in a series of books; Flying Saucers Have Landed (co-written with Desmond Leslie) in 1953, Inside the Space Ships in 1955, and Flying Saucers Farewell in 1961. Adamski’s first sighting was in 1946 when he and his friends were observing a meteor shower over Mount Palomar in California. He claimed to have seen this cigar-shaped object he described as a “mothership” passing in front of the moon. From then on Adamski began a career lecturing about philosophy, religion, UFOs and spinning more unbelievable tales to the masses, eventually acquiring a following of believers and substantial wealth along the way.

N) Alien Reproduction Vehicle (A.R.V.) - ARVs were alleged top secret, experimental spacecraft created using reverse-engineered alien technology and possibly built as far back as the mid 1960s. Detailed schematics of the craft were created by aviation artist Mark McCandlish and allegedly based on thorough descriptions provided by his colleague, aerospace engineer Brad Sorenson. Sorensen claimed that on November 12, 1988, he attended an airshow at Norton Air Force Base near San Bernardino, California when he was invited to access a hangar that was supposed to be off-limits without a high security clearance. Inside he saw three space capsule-like objects of various sizes, all hovering silently in midair without the need for landing gear. One of the craft had some of its hull panels removed revealing the strange machinery inside. The craft were called “ARVs” or “Alien Reproduction Vehicles”, nicknamed “Fluxliners,” and they included a video presentation demonstrating their operation and capabilities. The smallest craft had four seats mounted back-to-back inside a dome-like cockpit. The dome had no windows so video screens were used to see outside using external camera domes. The pilot also wore a kind of fiber-optic helmet that gave a clear 3D view around the ship, (an amazing piece of technology allegedly in-use back the late 60s). The ARVs were purportedly equipped with anti-gravity propulsion and powered by zero-point energy “scaler field” devices. They could not only fly into space, but could warp space as well, achieving speeds faster than light. Also of note was a hatch that would open revealing a robotic arm that could pick up things such as rock and soil samples. The Air Force supposedly ran several manned missions to the moon and back long before the Apollo space program “officially” took astronauts there with rockets.

O) Phoenix Lights UFO - Similar in appearance to the Lubbock Lights UFO (see above), this V-shaped object allegedly appeared during the “Phoenix Lights Incident” which took place on the evening of March 13, 1997; and witnessed by thousands of residents of Phoenix, Arizona. The object was also seen by others as far west as southern California and east to the Texas panhandle. That night, most witnesses claimed to have seen this massive, (possibly miles wide) V-shaped wing that was completely black except for an arrangement of bright white lights along the bottom. Some people thought it was a formation of separate disks until the space in between the lights was seen blocking out the stars of the night sky indicating it was one solid object. The lights were even filmed by a local news network and caused a nationwide media frenzy. The US Government was quick to debunk the sightings as flares launched by military aircraft as part of an exercise conducted that evening, but many of the witnesses didn’t buy it especially when they said the object was completely silent and moved too slowly to be a formation of planes. In the days that followed there were many attempts to recreate the sighting by using airplanes, lanterns hung from balloons, even skydivers carrying flares, and none of them could reproduce exactly what was in the camcorder videos recorded that evening.

P) Cash-Landrum UFO - On the night of December 29, 1980, Betty Cash was driving her friend Vicky Landrum and Colby Landrum (Vicky’s seven-year old grandson) home to Dayton, Texas, when along an isolated stretch of highway, they claimed to observe a bright light in the sky moving over the surrounding treetops. Eventually the light came closer and the women could see that it as a huge diamond-shaped craft, as tall as a water tower, that expelled a bright jets of fire from the bottom. Betty stopped her car fearing it would land on top of them. As the object slowly passed low over the road, the two women got out to take a closer look and noticed the object was surrounded by two dozen CH-47 Chinook military helicopters. The object emitted such intense heat that the women were forced to return to the car.  Eventually the craft cleared the road and the women left the area. In the following days the women claimed to suffer severe heath problems that were allegedly consistent with radiation exposure. Cash’s car also had thermal damage on the dash and steering wheel showing imprints of the women’s hands where they touched the partially melted plastic.  The women’s story gained widespread media coverage including interviews on investigative TV shows such as That’s Incredible, Unsolved Mysteries and Sightings. The women tried to sue the nearby Bergstrom Air Force Base for exposing them to an aircraft that caused their health problems, but the Air Force said they had no “diamond shaped” aircraft in their possession. They also claimed that none of their helicopters were airborne that evening with the fleet being grounded during the Christmas/New Year's holidays. The case was eventually dismissed.

Fantastic! It strikes me that with so many varied spacecraft, if the UFOs are real and ETs are flying them, it must be a "federation" of aliens exploring the Earth. Otherwise, why are so few UFO sightings ever alike?

According to the Disclosure Project, where some former military and government officials came forward with what they witnessed, one guy said there was a kind of "federation" with some 50+ different species but each had different motives for Earth, some good, some bad. He also said many of these beings looked similar to us which he couldn't explain. We may all have a common ancestor if that's the case.

That's sad but understandable - no nation wants to admit there are powers out there, vast in capability and god-knows what.

If they can travel from deep space to here, their technology will be vastly superior and no nation wants to admit they are not up to the challenge.

UFOs are prevalent, most however are things we are upto. Some....are true mysteries

Thank you for sharing this sir

I admit that I've been watching the new series Project Blue Book on History, but I started these models weeks before that. I did add the Lubbock Lights ship after that episode aired tho. If you do watch the show it's "based" (and I must say "loosely based") on J. Alan Hynek's work. I am familiar with some of his cases and it looks like the show is mixing things around, adding things from separate cases into one, changing locations, but mostly they are completely making things up! The Lubbock case for instance didn't involve the UFO "melting a pickup truck" like in the show. But oh well, it's a Hollywood and they need to spice things up. Otherwise it's a pretty cool show so far.

Facts are more frightening than fiction - doing stuff for drama's sake is a sad grab for attention.

Then again, maybe there is a shallow reason for doing it.

Me, the real stories are bed-shitters.

As for your work - it is very well done and scary; these things (allegedly exist) and despite their 'simplicity' someone non-human, made them....

Scary!

Oh yeah, that's the police officer encounter  - I think the ship looked like it was a little white egg on legs. The cop saw the beings as well in little space suits. I did consider that one, plus the 1955 Hopkinsville Incident where a farm in Kentucky was invaded by a swarm of creatures from a large egg-shaped craft that landed on a farm. That case spawned the term "Little Green Men".

Perhaps in Part 3?

I also like the Sept 11, 1979 Marshall County, Minnesota Incident where a sheriff says he saw a strange bright light over a farmer's field. He drove down a dirt access road and came upon an object that suddenly shot over his patrol car and hit it causing damage - bent the antenna, cracked windshield and roof lights. The police car is still on display in the county museum.

It is quite obvious this guy is a hoax for financial & to game fame.

The late UFO expert/researcher Dr. J. Allen Hynek had said that
about him.

Only strange thing I ever saw in the sky was one evening a tiny "black dot" appeared over my friend's house and it remained perfectly still. It was there until night fell and I lost sight of it. I wasn't the only one to see it either, a few of my friends were nearby and saw it too - none of us had binoculars, and as this was the early 90's cell phone cameras weren't a thing yet, neither were drones, so we had no idea what it was.

It was the 4th of July, 1976; the bicentennial. We lived at Point Mugu, California, and I was 8. We had mountains all around us, and I was using my dad's binoculars to look at a large white radar dish up on a mountain.  Then this UFO came into view - dark pyramid, blue lights along the base. It seemed to linger near the radar dish. I thought it might've been an optical illusion through the lenses, so I lowered the binoculars and looked directly at the mountain. I saw the thing as an indistinct dot hovering over the mountain with my naked eyes, so I raised the binoculars again. At that point, it was gone.

Shadowstate In reply to TheMightyGorga [2019-02-03 20:23:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that's weird, sounds like it was checking out that radar dish.

I would have dismissed my "sky dot" as a balloon or bird but it wasn't moving! I even reclined down in a deck chair laying perfectly still with the object positioned in the middle of a TV antenna on the roof of the house. It wasn't moving at all, just parked there in the sky. What can do that? if it were a planet like Venus I'd suspect it be a light not a black dot. And satellites move across the sky and reflect light as well. I'd think the wind would push it or something, but no. I have no idea how high in the sky it was but it was near cloud level that day. Probably 6,000 feet?

Also my mother saw a UFO fly over the house. My mom knows nothing of UFOs, was never interested in anything sci-fi nor watched any TV except game shows and soap operas, but one day she told me she saw a black triangle silently drift over our previous home in Painesville, Ohio. I was just a toddler then, probably 1 or 2 years old, so this was 1973/74 and she said she was holding me at the time, so I was too young to remember, but my father had just pulled out of the driveway to go to work and was driving down the street. She turned to walk back into the house and saw this thing pass over the backyard. My dad didn't see it. Anyway she described your typical black triangle with red glow in the middle and a white running light at each point! For a person who knows jack shit about UFOs that's a pretty accurate description. So I believe she saw it.
