Description
Amaterasu is a part of the Japanese myth cycle and also a major deity of the Shinto religion. She is the goddess of the sun, but also of the universe. The name Amaterasu derived from Amateru meaning "shining in heaven." The meaning of her whole name, Amaterasu-ōmikami, is "the great august kami (Gama or God) who shines in the heaven".[N 1] The Emperor of Japan is said to be a direct descendant of Amaterasu.

I'm sure we've all heard of the game Okami. The main character is a white wolf named Amaterasu, made to personify the goddess herself. I think I did a pretty good job on her.

In the anime Naruto, Sasuke and Itachi Uchiha create black fire so powerful that it can burn other flames. How does that work? Lol. They call this power the Amaterasu, the flames of the sun.

And in my Shadowa series, Mirage's ultimate attack unleashes the full power of the sun where he erupts with everything he has. Nothing escapes incineration once he's unleashed his fury.
