I can remember when your eyes would shine
Starlight captured within an azure dream
Laughter would ring out from within
Lightly dancing inside those who had heard
Your back was not bowed with the weight of the world
Your concerns weren’t racing with china for the most populated area
Perhaps I may carry some of the weight for a while?
Then maybe you could look me in the eyes without tears
Why does your soul cry with such agony?

Would it ease your frayed mind if I offered an apology?
Could it rest upon soft fields of green, evergreen dreams
Shall you finally find some rest within the arms of an angel
Sheltered within silken, feathery, gossimer thin hopeful wings
Put down the world and resign as the manager of the universe tonight
Close your weary eyes and float away within tides of serenity’s kiss
Put down the mountain I say, set it over there next to the others
Perhaps the group of us could start our own mountain range
The Slumbering Giants, surrounding the dreaming isles

Locked within this blackened tower I pondered storm raged skies
You kept knocking upon it’s stout gates to no avail, no soliciting!
Always down, all I could see of you were your shoes, (Nice!)
Missing out upon the windows of new yet familiar vistas above
Your light still hurts my eyes, still staring into the sun
I would offer you this heart, but it keeps slipping through my fingers

It still beats as a drum (with no head)
