Born around the time of the Clone Wars on CHandrila, Ardeus grew up in a semi-luxurious lifestyle, as his father was an officer in the Navy of the Republic during the Clone Wars. Although his family lived on Chandrila, when Ardeus was 9 years old, two years into the Clone Wars, Ardeus' family had been going to Alderaan for vacations to spend a portion of the standard year, and to meet an admiral and his family that Ardeus' father, Vamus, had met while being an officer for the Planetary Defence Forces for Alderaan: Admiral Ryas Beckett, his wife, Lila Beckett and his only son: Tobia Beckett. Both Ardeus and Tobias had known each other since they were three years old and have been best of friends.

Ardeus and Tobias would get into trouble multiple times. But that wouldn't stop them from being friends. When the Empire came to power, Ardeus' father became a recruiter for the Galactic Empire and Tobias' father was moved to some distant world where he would be killed by terrorists.

Ardeus and Tobias wouldn't be able to see each other for years, they managed to remain in contact with each other. Ardeus would go to join the Stormtrooper Corps, although his father enlisted him into the Imperial Army because he knew how they would dehumanize their cadets. Although Ardeus was first not happy when he first found out but would appreciate his father's decision. Ardeus would end up in the Mimban Campaign as a sniper in 10BBY, his resourcefulness and intense ability to improvise was noticed, but not really enough for him to rise in the ranks.

Over the years after the Mimban Campaign, Ardeus would climb the ranks and become a General, which at this time, Tobias Beckett, had become a Grand Moff of the Delta Sector. So Tobias requested that Ardeus be moved to his command in order to hang out with him, also so that Ardeus, who became really, really, really, really good with logistics. Even with naval forces. Ardeus also began to employ blitzkrieg-style tactics, using overwhelming force combined with combined arms and tank columns spearheading any campaign. He would also be given command of the 141st Assault Stormtrooper Legion.

Ardeus' aim with a sniper rifle also became so good that General Vesk would fear for his life if Ardeus was leading the enemy.

Now with General Ardeus Croft, at some point, between 2 BBY and 1 BBY, he would meet General Vesk for the first time, making a complimentary joke about Vesk's uniform, only for Vesk to insult Ardeus' mother who passed away to months prior. That day marked the beginning of their rivalry with General Vesk. A very hostile rivalry.

Ardeus and Vesk would agree on some things, like how a leader should go into battle with their troops unless they have a good reason not to. They also acknowledge each other's strengths and weaknesses, but they would still try to beat each other no matter what.

Ardeus isn't a strategic mastermind, he usually leaves the strategizing to his best friend and colleague, Tobias, who is better at making plans for campaigns, as well as better at politics than Ardeus. Although both Ardeus and Tobias believe that democracy is better than autocracy if done right, they also believe that ruling through fear is not good, especially for Ardeus sine he treats any civilian he meets, human or not with kindness.

When Alderaan was destroyed, both Ardeus and Tobias were on the Death Star to witness it. Ardeus would be upset because he had sentimental ties to the planet, while Alderaan was Tobias' home, where his mother lived, as well as the planet his girlfriend lived. After they left the Death Star onboard Tobias' Star Destroyer, the ISD: Resurrection, before the Battle of Yavin, they headed to the Delta Sector to consolidate their forces in preparation of seccession, but with the Rebel's victory at Endor in 4 ABY, Tobias Beckett, with the help of his best friend and military partner, Ardeus Croft, would create teir own imperial remnant that would one day, become the Delta Imperial Alignment.
