Backstory:

Indestructible was NEVER the legendary being he is now to start with, he was once a normal Earth commando.

Flashback
He was only 17 when the Thean Empire invaded Earth. He helped fight back against them and helped Earth win a short yet bloody war.
End of Flashback

About 7 years later the Thean Empire returned and he joined Earth’s new spacefaring military as a Commando.

His closest friend died near the end of the war that had started as a result an d Indestructible felt a major surge of power flow in to him and he killed his friend’s killer

Of course he didn’t earn his new name when a squadron of Super Soldiers and Commandos encountered him and although he won.... The only surviving Commando said this:

“Ind.... Inde..... Indestructible!”

That was how he became Indestructible
