The world of Calhan was colonised by the Quaram Dominion several millennia ago, once originally a lush, paradise, it was then exploited for resources. With large factories being built for the Quaram War machine, entire species were wiped out within decades, oceans dried up within centuries and towers taller than the tallest mountains were built, and massive weapons emplacements replaced the thriving plains.
Calhan has been seen as a target for UN attack against the Quaram Dominion in order to permanently cripple their military and logistical capabilities, but any method other than Jump-Gun would have very low chances of success and they would ultimately be called of.

Until the 2040s and 2050s, when the Orion Arm Republic developed their own super soldiers and would start sending them on missions to disrupt any and all Grand Alliance of the Galaxy members' efforts to conquer each other and the UN, one such squad was Gungnir One, which managed to dirsupt a major shipping lane for the Dominion. Calhan was hit the hardest because the shipping lane was being used for the transportation of food and water to Calhan, and now rebellions are rising in favour of the UN.
