despite its a very old anime, this kind design could be "outrageous" for its time - very modern appeal. However I can still recognize its age buy observe the wheels and landing gears as 'real'. Modern "high fantasy" macha design does not even bother to consider "land" in order to farther diverse it from the reality. other than robot anime, many famous shmup game does something like this, ikaruga thunder force R-type raystorm etc. and zone of the ender if you consider it as shmup.

Very nice. I'm very-much considering buying this kit; it's also widely available, unlike other Macross kits.

I admire your painting skill! Very clean!

Just seeing the series via the library for the first time!
How come they're making a live action Devil May Cry, a live action Evengellion, and a live action Gatchaman (!) but no plans for a live action Macross?
I think if Sci Fi put up a live action version of the show, and did it right, they'd bring in WAY more fans then the Battlestar or Stargate crowd. Macross is just darn good storytelling...with giant robots
Did you make this model yourself or did you find it somewhere?
Fine job on it.

to be honest, I don't think live action adoption is good for cartoon or anime. The reason is obvious: it makes people think cartoon or anime is inferior to live action. Remake a anime in live action is almost a pure wast of money for superficial appeal, that will eventually kill the cartoon or anime. Anime must be enjoyed in its own form, more live action means the population less accept anime as form of art.

I respectfully disagree...to a certain extent. The Dark Night I think is an example of comic book adaptation done so well that it not only makes a fine film but also makes people interested in the original stories too. The perfect adaptation is one that is standalone, crafting it's own story while at the same time staying true to the original source. A Macross live action would have the benefit of recent advances in technology to create an amazing film, but to be truly great it would have to branch somehow, building on themes and characters without leaving the original story behind completely. That way people might say (as they do with The Dark Knight) 'the movie was great, I want to read the comics again!' Or, in Macross' case, 'the movie was great, I want to see the anime again!'
Just my opinion, thanks for yours!

You do really make some good point here, may be live action actually promoting ainme culture to the main stream. I use to believe fantasy is for cartoon or anime, movie is good for realistic issues of our life. when I want to watch anime I like the escapist fantasy and scifi, but for live action is no more the starwar but history. What do you think? May be I am too old [age=22] ^_^! I am not really that serious about the issue, movie cartoon anime and 1337game are all trying remake each others and have fun, who cares.

ThankX about your opinion. and please check out my gallery if you are interested.

It's a 1/72 scale model kit by Hasegawa.

It is an EXCELLENT quality model kit and I highly recomend it. You do need to glue the parts together and paint it though...so if you're used to building snap-together Gundams, this may be a bit tougher.

I also agree with you on a Live Action Macross. That would be beyond awesome. Unfortunately, I don't think anything like that is in the works anytime soon.
