My Brazilian rainbow boa had 9 babies last week and I'm very good at over-worrying about them. I did exactly this the first few days, and since they're young they're very bitey! It's kind of miraculous that Lucy gave birth on this month, of all months, the month that Beowulf passed away, after I've been trying to breed her for like 3-4 years. Well, their mother is the gentlest snake I own. Very docile, slow moving, and used to handling. Any snake can be pretty docile if you handle it a lot
