This is a reference sheet that I made for the husband since he showed some interest in having a pony OC. I admittedly had been thinking of a character for him before he asked me to design one, so I had a head start on some of the headcanon Changeling lore and such @_@ I wanted to make him a Changeling becauuUUUuuuuse

a) Boring stallions are boring
b) My husband doesn't like bronies and since Changelings make a living out of attacking ponies it seemed to make sense heh
c) The physical design of the tall, sharp Changelings fits my husband better than a fat FIM stallion
d) Earth Angel likes weird things
e) I love Changelies

So here is the overly detailed Changeling reference sheet for my husband's character, Setae. Annoyingly, there is even more information that I wanted to include on there, but I think that it's plenty wordy enough as it is.

In my head I imagine Changelings to have a native tongue which sounds very similar to Celtic languages such as Gaelic, but a lot more hissy. They call themselves Siofra, for instance, which is the Gaelic term for a shapeshifter. I am also under the belief that Changeling biology and society is completely and 100% established on the acquisition and maintenance of love. Biologically, they need love. Starved Changelings look small and frail, which is why the ones we see in FIM are like that, and which is why Chrysalis was forced to take such drastic measures in order to feed her army - her people were dying! Without love, Changelings can wither away and die. But the more love a Changeling receives the more his natural appearance may alter by growing in size and changing in shape. The most powerful form of love is what they call Chroígra; love given freely, without need of shapeshifting, hypnosis, or facade. When a Changeling is genuinely loved for who he is, that is when he gains the most strength and is most likely to have his natural form altered. This is why Chrysalis is so much larger than her army. It is not because she is a female, or a Queen, but because she has garnered the genuine love and respect of so many of her people.

In a pinch, a Changeling can drink nectar from flowers, so they are equipped with long nectar tongue similar in appearance to a bat or anteater. They can't thrive on this diet though. It's only when they're starved that they even try (kind of like how deer will ear bark when they're starving but they can't possibly live on it forever).

I imagine Earth Angel found Setae wounded in the forest after the Canterlot attack, and nursed him back to life through means of many LOOoooOOoove potions because she is very good at making herbal teas and tinctures. And then one thing led to another and they became happily ever after the end.
