Description
The Manticore is a creature which originated in Persian and Indian mythology. It supposedly had the body of a red lion, the face of a man, three rows of sharp teeth (like a shark's), and the tail of either a scorpion or a dragon. It was said that it had sharp barbs that it could hurl at a distance like archer's arrows, and its poison could kill or paralyze a man in seconds. Sometimes depicted with horns, wings, or both, it devoured its prey whole, leaving no bones, clothes, or belongings behind.
