Thank You. But I've just come to realize that he doesn't have a receding hairline. In fact, it's not even a He. It's a female and they're supposed to have that spot of gray. All this time I thought "he" was a unique bird.

Better luck next time for that "unique" shot. Did you research that info your self or did a viewer correct you?

Actually a fellow bird watcher had corrected me while out in the field. I was quite bummed. But it's still a great composition to show the female difference.

Thank You! It's a red-bellied woodpecker. He just has a partial albino problem causing him to not grow red feather in that spot.
