Sprucefoot and little Troutkit.

In my Warriors-verse , Preachers are celibate and devote themselves fully to StarClan. However, cats often don't take the Preacher role until they're older and retired. Troutleap was already a warrior when Sprucefoot became a Preacher.

As a young warrior, Sprucefoot was an ill-tempered and selfish tom (a lot like Cedarleaf). He wasn't particularly popular amongst his Clanmates. One cat specifically had a heated rivalry with him. Sprucefoot and his rival, Fernberry, had a complicated on-and-off relationship that only existed to let off some steam. Eventually, Fernberry became pregnant. Sprucefoot made it clear that he wanted nothing to do with the kits, and Fern was okay with this. He would've made a horrible father anyway.

Troutkit was the sole kitten in the litter, but the birth was far more difficult than expected and Fernberry died of complications during labor. Feeling somewhat guilty, Sprucefoot reluctantly decided to take responsibility and raise Troutkit himself. Naturally, the sweet little girl softened Sprucefoot's heart, not that he'd ever admit it. The two have a very close relationship and Troutleap is pretty much the only cat that he listens to and shows affection towards. He calls her "dear."
