Description
I need more practice and patience to paint digitally.Been a while since I did anything mecha related. Glowy eyes cuz it wasn't interesting enough (what a cop out!).
45 minutes OC
Tweaked in PS7
*updated*
Decided to work on this for another half hour. Much more pleased with it now :3

I have enjoyed since I joined DeviantArt. I finally recognize where I saw that light design on the helmet before.
Take a look at the headlights on the TVR Sagaris or the Lotus ExigeS. Now I know why I liked the design so much.
Keep up the great work!

OC certainly takes a little getting used to, but for the most part it's very similar to photoshop albiet fewer tools but better brushes
Thanks muchlies

Ah, looks much better now. Infinitely more interesting.
I'd have to say my favorite part of this are the trails left behind by the mecha's eyes... the intent was for this painting to be like a photograph with a long exposure time, no?

*grins*, you guessed it I've been poking through some of the long exposure photography that my flatmate has been taking. And also watched Akira again a couple nights ago.
I wanted some way of conveying the movement and I chose it as a cheap way of doing it T_T It was either that or streaming the smoke off the mecha, which didn't turn out so well when I tried it. But I'll crack it someday! *shakes fist*

Updated! I'm a lot more happy with it now :3
I really wanted to do something moody, I started painting a dark patch o' clouds and the giant robot popped out of some random character sketches in the center of the canvas.
Giant robots for the win!

whoa...thats so cool...i love the dynamics involved, especially the dust from the forced entry still floating in air, illuminated by the light outside. very cool piece.

Started with the clouds, then decided to draw a robot, the rest just flowed
Image updated now! DOH! Now that you've said it it makes me wish I did dust coming off the ceiling. Oh well, always next time
