The butterfly is awesome. The author, Peter S Beagle, said that the butterfly is the character in the movie that is the most like himself.

An absolutely delightful image! Believe it or not, the butterfly is Peter's (Beagle) favorite character as well. He says of all the characters in the story, the butterfly has the most of him in it. That, by the way, is also one of his favorite quotes from the story.

Been my favorite movie since childhood, and that entire seen with the butterfly was irritating when I was younger, because I just wanted her to find the others but now I have a bit more of an appreciation for the character. It's a good life lesson that things don't always come easy. I love your illustration and what you did with the character design.
