I had a feeling I'd get a question like this someday
First of all, when these robots were created, the humans only programmed them to do certain things. For example, a printer can't toast bread. Everything has it's own function. Mr. GEG was a house droid, meaning he cleaned and tended to the household. He doesn't have the basic knowledge to fix something.
And yep! Husband. HOWEVER marriage is a little complicated in this society. These robots don't necessarily feel "love" because they're, well, robots. HOWEVER, the creations feel less intense emotions like frustration, joy, and bitterness. They cannot feel more intense emotions like love, hate, and agony. Because of this, marriage isn't done out of love. It's more of a kinship. Robots get married because it strengthens relationships/friendships. It's always more fun to live together than alone. Marriage is just the formal term that they learned from humans and intimidated it. They don't understand the whole concept.
I hope that kinda makes sense. It will be explained later on!
