This looks wonderful. As much as i like her winged hair, the more natural and realistic look that you illustrated here also looks excellent.

She . Looks. Amazing! Quite nicely done with the realistic hair flow of her inexplicable hairstyle.
The expression looks serious, like what she kind of is, as a person, but there is also a hint of hope and serenity in her eyes.
Overall you have done a great job at drawing her!

Thanks for the kind words!Β
Yeah, I shudder to think what the bloodied feather would mean, especially to a flying-type gym leader.

Very nice. She kind of looks like her manga counterpart, who has a really big "heavy is the crown" aspect to her character as leader of the Hoenn gyms. In particular this picture makes her look kind of shell shocked, like she's just experienced a very traumatic or startling event and has suddenly had an epiphany.
One complaint or criticism I do have though is that her right arm seems a bit small, especially in the forearm portion.
On the whole though this is a very good picture of one of my favorite gym leaders. Definitely saving this to my desktop loop.

Thanks!
Can't say I've followed the manga, but I can definitely see how "heavy is the crown" is a phase she might be going through. And shell-shocked was exactly what I was going for, so it's glad to get some confirmation that I got that part right!
Yeah, the arms (both of them!) are too small in retrospect. Guess I was so worried about the glove coming out right I didn't want to adjust past the wrist :S
What did you think of the Skarmory redesign?

You're welcome.
I recently picked up the Ruby and Sapphire run of the manga on Amazon, and I have to say that it exceeded all my expectations. If you're at all interested in a story set in the Pokemon world that genuinely good on its own merits (and fantastically so, though the ending dragged a bit) I suggest you and anyone reading this do the same. www.amazon.com/Pokemon-Adventu⦠If nothing else it gives all the Hoenn gym leaders depth that most of them didn't have in other media.
As for Skarmory. It was actually a few days till I realized that was a Skarmory. The metal sheen is nice, but overall the design suffers from being too spread out. The wing shards should be closer together, the neck should be shorter, etc..
Also, sorry for not getting back to you sooner. This is still a great picture, and every time it comes up on my desktop I always stop and look. I just should do the same for my DA messages more. Β

Ah, and I believe the manga is returning to Hoenn to tie in with the fairly recent OR/AS games release! So there's more where that came from in the future.
Nice to hear your thoughts on Skarmory. The wings are fairly spread out aren't they? And it was a struggle to position to adjust the head in the piece, especially after the revisions I made from the original sketch-up, so I can see where you're coming from. Things to bear in mind for the future, because I cannot guarantee I won't be drawing Skarmory again. There's something special about that bird.Β

Wow, how pretty! She reminds me of Elsa, from Frozen.

Thank you!
Haha, guilty as charged. I've drawn a lot of Elsa...
