Whoah, thanks so much for this tutorial >w< !!! I was wondering how to make this checkboard so... smooth :3 . I also discovered that you can make this rainbow-white checkboard, then click Filters->Artistic->Cubism and you have two sliders that allow you to make this "squares" bigger and less transparent. The final result may look like in my icon ^^ -> [link]
BTW, if I can recall correctly, Photoshop doesn't have this "checkboard" option in filters :c . But you can always make this checkboard in GIMP and save it as a Photoshop file and continue editing in Photoshop C: .
