This little off-color cutie grew incorrectly due to the minerals in her hole, giving her some Sapphire-like features in appearance being that rubies and sapphires are both forms of corundum. Along with this, she emerged prematurely and thus came out very tiny, about half the size of a regular Ruby. She was from a batch made for some of Blue Diamond's court, to be assigned to a noble blue gem as a guard. She had been assigned to a Midnight Lapis Lazuli, who decided on insisting to keep her despite her defects.

Ruby can often be seen perched on Lazuli's shoulder or being carried by her, if not directly by her side at all times. Ruby refers to her as "Miss Lazuli", and Lazuli has given her the nickname "Little Apple" or "Crab-Apple" when she's moody. Her weapon is a foil sword, reaching from her shoulders to her feet. Ruby insists on proving herself valuable and remaining optimistic, and always providing her help to Lazuli.

- She has little sneezes of fire if she gets really anxious
- She likes to sleep
- Her fighting skills are excellent despite her stature, and is good at surprise attacks
- If fused with another Ruby, she only makes them about a half-foot taller
