The moment the bell sounded, Blonde Nova and Athena Vain engaged in the most aggressive of lock-ups, pushing each other back and forth across the ring. After not getting the better of one another after several tries, Nova suddenly pulled Athena in close, grabbing her in a tight embrace and attempted a Belly-to-Belly Suplex. Being lifted off her feet, Vain quickly countered with a Headbutt, before finally pushing Blonde Nova away, sending her flying across the ring. Rolling backwards, Nova lessened the impact and landed in a crouching position. Glaring daggers at each other, both women charged. Hoicking a leg, they both went for a Big Boot, hitting each other in the face simultaneously and dropping to the mat. The fans sure loved it! Jumping back to their feet they immediately shifted into next gear, going for a Shoulder Tackle. Neither woman gave an inch. This was two irresistible forces clashing at full speed! For the next few minutes, neither could get an adventage over the other.
The first to make a mistake was Athena Vain! So used to overpowering her opponents, she overestimated the effect, her hard-whipping Nova into the corner would have. Then, when she went for her signature Handspring Back Elbow, she was grabbed from behind and the world whirled around her when Nova delivered a powerful German Suplex! She held on, though, and delivered a second one, then a third! Athena blocked a fourth, went for a go-behind, but Nova did the same, again catching her from behind and even though the champ fought it, powered her up for a Deadlift German! Athena landed hard on her shoulders, driving the air out of her lungs, as she toppled over. The champ now felt the first signs of fatigue. Nova on the other hand seemed fresh as a daisy, pulling her to her feet and going for yet another German Suplex. What could have been the beginning of the end, instead turned into the opening, Athena had been waiting for! This time, she didn't fight it! Instead, she jumped up, countering the Suplex by performing a backflip, landing on her feet. Nova was way too experienced to get thrown off by this ... and Athena was counting on it! When the veteran challenger spun around with a Clotheline, ready to counter the attack she thought was coming, Athena ducked under it, bounced off the ropes and nailed Nova with a picture-perfect Spear in the middle of the ring! The WEW fans loudly cheered their champion, but Athena Vain had no illusions that this single Spear would be enough to fell one of the greatest of all time. She got in position, waiting for a recovering Nova to get back up. Lying in wait, seemingly preparing another Spear. However, it was just a ruse. As she charged, Blonde Nova jumped up, intending to leapfrog her, just like Athena had predicted. In mid-charge, she stopped her own momentum, grabbed Nova out of the air and slammed her to the mat hard with a thunderous Powerslam! Only then she went for a cover! The referee counted:
"1 ... 2 ..."
Barely two, actually! Nova rolled her shoulder off the mat with relative ease, still fresh. Now, Athena decided, it was time for the big guns to come out! Her first weapon of choice: The Chokeslam! Grabbing Nova by the neck, the challenger actually fought it, grabbing Athena by the wrist and forcing her hand away! The giantess was not used to someone overcoming her strength! Then again, not that she hadn't encountered it before. When she tried to gain the upper hand, Nova suddenly released her grip and Athena stumbled forward. The veteran bolted by her and bounced off the ropes, jumping high into the air on her way back. The "Breakdown", a Leg Lariat, Nova had used for almost 20 years to soften up her opponents! But Athena knew that! When Nova's leg hit her in the chest, the towering champion held on to her, grabbing her neck again and pulling her up. Suddenly, Blonde Nova found herself in the position for the infamous One-Armed Powerbomb! 99 opponents this move had put away and Athena could TASTE no. 100 approaching ... when Blonde Nova slid off her shoulders and pullled her down with her by the arm, that had been supposed to deliver the Powerbomb. Out of nowhere, Athena found herself on the mat, on her belly, her powerbomb-arm trapped between Nova's thighs ... and locked in the excruciating Crossface! Her eyes widened with deep terror, then squeezed shut when the pain hit and became more unbearable, the longer the move kept being applied. Athena started fading fast. She knew, if she didn't get free soon, both her title reign and undefeated streak would be no more!
