GODDAMN DO I HAVE A LOT OF THINGS TO SAY-

There's a scene in the show where Otto catches Antauri mid-fainting. I've seen people loose their shit over it (myself included), rightfully so, it's a damn good moment.
BUT, there is a different moment where Chiro catches him bridal style later in the series, and strangely, I haven't seen anybody bring it up? Granted, it's not as in-your-face as the Otto one, but COME ON. Chiro and Antauri are the best duo in the series don't @ me, Chiro catches him bridal style and nobody noticed? CRIMINAL. I had to do something about it

I was planning this to be a simple, 4-6ish hour painting to post exclusively on Tumblr (cuz I'm a little shy when it comes to self-indulgent fandom stuff outside Tumblr)... but then the bastard took 8 hours... aaaand I recorded it (fyi I record everything to measure time). The footage wasn't too bad either. So, may as well make it into a large upload

... You mind if I gush for a minute? I BLOODY LOVE HOW THIS TURNED OUT. I wasn't expecting it to turn out this good in the slightest, and to be fair, there were A LOOOT of edits during the entire process (can be seen in the timelapse), mostly done via selections and transfomation tools. I think that's why this took much longer than I expected, countless edits thrown in.
Antauri's real shiny, his facial expression is murdering me, Chiro looks fine af too... even if a little older than he should. Considering my shit human anatomy, and the fact he looks... oddly handsome, it's definitely an achievement. So I'm cool with the older aged look.
The age up happened on accident, I wanted to give his face a more actual human like shape.... aaand then the age happened. Since I was at it, I took the opportunity to give Antauri some adjustments too, namely more meat (or rather, metal) on his legs and tail (yes the tail is there, ever so slightly), because honestly, the canon monkey proportions bother me. How the hell can those skinny ass legs support their weight, massive head included???
Lightning and background... as this is a screenshot redraw, I didn't have much of a choice. Regardless, while the bg could have been a little better, the lightning is AWESOME. It really looks like a sunset. I like the soft, warm feeling it gives the scene, even if it makes no sense in the context of the episode XD in the original, Antauri was shot down out of the sky with Chiro being the only thing seperating him from the pavement, Antauri is unconcious (even if it only lasts like 10 seconds, hence, why the semi-opened eye on the pic), there are flying zombie ghost things attacking the team from every angle... not exactly a warm scenario lmao.

TL;DR I fucking love this.

ONE MORE THING. Shoutout to for helping out during the creation process. I showed her some WIPs, she gave me some concrit on Chiro's hands. It's a little funny to me bc I got the concrit from a missunderstanding, and yet, the advice reaaaaally made this piece even better :3
