Description
"Keep your optical sensors to yourself."— Breakdown's motto.
Here is a fan-art of the paranoid Breakdown from the second and third seasons of The Transformers. He was first voiced by the late Jack Angel (who also lent his voice to Arcana, Astrotrain, the second voice of Cyclonus, Katsu Don, Merrick, Omega Supreme, Professor Teranova, one of the Quintessons, Ramjet, Sir Wulf, Smokescreen, a Sweep, U-Haul Robot/Sentinel Prime and was the second voice of Ultra Magnus) in Breakdown's debut appearance before being voiced regularly by Alan Oppenheimer (the man behind the voice of Skeletor, Mer-Man and Man-At-Arms from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe 1983), who also lent his voice to Beachcomber, Dinsmore, a film director, the Mayor of Central City, Seaspray and Warpath. In the show's Japanese dub as with most characters, he did not have a consistent voice actor, with him first being voiced by Takurō Kitagawa, before Keiichi Nanba took over the role (save for two episodes where he was voiced by Show Hayami).
Originally a ordinary off white Lamborghini Countach , that Lambo was stolen as part of Megatron's goal to create new ground-based warriors who could out-drive and out-fight the Autobots, and it was eventually rebuilt into Breakdown. Along with his fellow Stunticons, they combine to form Menasor, with Breakdown serving as the right-leg of Menasor. His fate (shared with Sky Lynx, the other Stunticons, and various of characters who did not appear in the show's fourth and final season) in the American G1 cartoon continuity was left unknown due to him last being seen getting affected by the Hate Plague, though he likely got better.
His Legacy toy, however, while accurate to his G1 cartoon character model, suffers from having an alt-mode that is an hybrid between the Lambo Countach and the Ferrari 308, due to Hastak, not being able to fully retool Legacy Wildrider to have an close approximation of Breakdown's Lambo Countach alt-mode.
Made with Paint.net on the 6th of December 2022, like with Drag Strip and Dead End, he was easy to do, due to me relying on a shot from the episode ("The Key to Vector Sigma, Part 1") he debuts in, rather than make use of his character model, although I had to apply the shading to the wheels.
EDIT!: It got featured in a video from Transformers Slag Podcast, which talks about a new variant of Legacy Breakdown which apparently has a more G1 toy-inspired deco and head, which is an likely foreshadowing to an G2 repaint of that variant of Breakdown.
