Description
The businessman was smart & shrewdBalding little man, who owned a wine shop,
While visiting a bottling plant in the hills,
In his head a brilliant idea popped.
In bottles of different colors,
He planned to sell same old wine,
Each with new label & a new name,
And each with a different identifying sign.
In his warehouse he personally filled all bottles,
And he put on different labels,
In his tavern he placed them on the counter,
They will be served at different tables.
Hearing of the products, the town went wild,
Some came draped in finest silk; some came in just fine,
Each customer was asked to choose a table,
And each table was served a new bottle of wine.
Everyone had their own views,
Some claimed it bitter, and were offered different kinds,
Some gulped it and find flavors very new,
Finally, everyone made their minds.
Color of their choosing and taste of their choice,
They questioned others and questioned their choice,
The colors made up strangers friends,
And the colors caused friends to fight.
Saffron, Green, White, Red, Blue, Pink,
Each claimed the best was their drink,
They hated criticism and asked others to join,
They even fought, as they stopped to think.
Among the fights and settling scores,
Among the hate and intolerance of taste,
The shopkeeper earned now so much more
From the wine that was going to waste.

Great story and message! Definitely an enjoyable read. On the last line of the second stanza I think you need to remove "a" or make "signs" singular, though.

I like it, I think the idea is really interesting, that the wine is the same but the packaging different, and here is everyone discriminating when really they're all the same - a very clever take on the theme
